ENGINEERING & EAS
Advisory: Fall Sun Outage Coming Up in October
Barry Mishkind's Broadcaster's Desktop Reference (BDR) is reminding its readers that each spring and fall, stations have to accommodate interference when the sun is in line with satellite receiver dishes. Depending upon the satellite and your location, "you may want to prepare for those times during the first half of October when sunbore will leave you with static for a bit." The BDR provides a link to one site that will calculate outages for your particular site and the satellites you might be accessing. Visit that site here.

Writing and Speaking for Broadcast
with Joe Little,KNSD-TV (San Diego)

Thursday, October 15, 2020 | 11:00 a.m.

Writing and Speaking for Broadcast captures a lot of the writing and performance aspects. SO MANY reporters speak like police officers and use words lifted from a press release. Yet, broadcasting is supposed to be a conversation. It needs to be HUMAN. We shouldn't sound like we're reading a newspaper out loud, which is awful. Register Now
