Dear Community,

The CFEVS District prides itself on academic excellence and offering a world class student educational experience. To achieve this, we are innovative in our practices, and consistently strive to improve. We are currently engaged in a strategic planning process of listening and learning about how we can continue to build a school culture and educational environment where people of diverse learning styles, life experiences, perspectives, beliefs, and identities encounter a welcoming, supportive environment.

The process we will use for future work is Listen, Learn, Design, and Lead.

Phase One:

Listen: Through authentic dialogue with a diverse group of stakeholders, the Administration and Board will develop a thorough understanding of the District and school community as it relates to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and our vision, mission, and strategic plan.

Learn: Through systematic observations, surveys, focus groups, interviews, and document analysis, the Administration and Board will develop a thorough understanding of the District’s systems and structures, culture, and traditions as it relates to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and our vision, mission, and strategic plan.

Phase Two:

Design: Through the comprehensive understanding of the District and community from the listen and learn process, the Administration and Board will work collaboratively to design and refine the strategic plan and goals to meet the needs of CFEVS.

Phase Three:

Lead:  Through the knowledge acquired throughout the process, the Superintendent will enhance her educational leadership practices to best meet the needs of the entire School District and guide the District’s journey to be a premier School District in the state, nation, and world.

As we begin Phase One of the process, it is our aim to engage and include our stakeholders in focus groups, community forums, informational sessions, surveys, interviews, listening sessions, and other types of meetings to better understand the experiences and perspectives of all members of our school community. These methods of engaging with our school community have been a vital part of our decision-making in the past, as well as part of our yearly District review process. This feedback will continue to inform our decision-making in the future.

As we begin this work in the next few weeks, we will be establishing a new Task Force to assist with this piece of the strategic planning process. To be part of the conversation for the 2021-2022 school year, please register here. Anyone who signed up to be part of the 2020-2021 DEIJ Task Force and wants to continue to be involved in future work, will also need to register.

This work stems from our commitment to fulfill our mission “to empower students to maximize their potential. If you are interested in learning more about the history of the work, the 2020-2021 DEIJ Task Force, or the CFEVS Board of Education Commitment to Equity and Excellence in Education Resolution of June 6, 2020, please check out our 2020-2021 DEIJ Task Force and Timelines, along with an FAQ about the work.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure every student in our District has the best educational experience possible.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jennifer Penczarski
