SR 429 Capacity Improvement Project Update
Earlier this year, CFX began work on the 13-mile SR 429 Capacity Improvement project, which will expand SR 429 between Tilden Road to SR 414 from four to six lanes. The project includes adding wider median shoulders that can temporarily accommodate traffic during emergency response events, such as traffic accidents or hurricane evacuations.

Crews are currently working on the first of three segments, from south of Florida’s Turnpike to West Road. The other two segments — from Tilden Road to south of Florida’s Turnpike and from West Road to SR 414 — are scheduled to begin construction by mid-April. To learn more, click here.
CFX Sustainability Program in Action
At the March Board meeting, CFX Director of Intelligent Transportation Systems Bryan Homayouni shared a status update on the CFX Sustainability Plan. The plan includes sustainability projects throughout CFX roadways, facilities and properties in the Central Florida region. CFX is utilizing technology that converts sunlight to electricity and provides sustainable power to select parts of the CFX system. Plan Ahead for I-4 Express Entry and Exit Points

I-4 Express, is intended for longer trips along the interstate, so I-4 Express has a limited number of entrance and exit points to help drivers bypass congestion. Keep in mind, depending on your destination, you may need to exit early or continue past your usual interchange before you exit I-4 Express.

Tolls will only be collected electronically and drivers must have a transponder, such as E-PASS to pay for tolls in I-4 Express lanes. All E-PASS transponders, including the free E-PASS Sticker, Uni, and CollegePasses will work on I-4 Express.

Before your next trip, check out the I-4 Express Trip Planner at i4express.com/plan-your-trip to see which ramps you need to use, as navigational systems may not be up to date.
