PAX Integration coming for EVO
We're offering a new credit card integration option for EVO utilizing the PAX android-based payment terminals. These are network based terminals, which will be on your wifi or ethernet network and are programmed specifically for you. This can make the setup within ThunderPOS relatively simple.
As you can see, once you have your terminal on the network and installed the configuration is simple. All you'll need to do is point the point of sale at the device's address and you'll be ready to go. There's no device drivers to install on the computer itself.

There are multiple terminals we're supporting, but the main ones we would recommend are either the A60 or the A80. The A80 is designed to be used with a desktop setup, and can be used with either ethernet or wifi. The A60 is a little more mobile, and can be used only with a wifi network.
As you can see above, the A80 offers both a screen and a physical numpad. Below, you can see the A60, sitting in the optional cradle in this case. The A60 exclusively uses the touchscreen.
Both of these devices support taking tips at the time of checkout, a new feature to ThunderPOS with this version.
Tips Feature Added
Alongside the PAX integration, we're adding the ability to record tips. This can be turned on both for PAX credit cards and for cash tips. In both cases, these are options, and leaving them off will keep the amount tendered screen the same as it has been in past versions, with the tips line not appearing at all.
For credit card tips done through the PAX unit, the customer will enter the amount of the tip through the device. There is no need or reason to enter this on the cashier side.

For any other type of tip, you can hit the "Cash Tip" button and enter the tip amount.

Tips must be done before the invoice is closed out; once finalized, you cannot modify the tip amount for either credit or cash tips.

Tips will be reported on the sales totals report, or you can get a breakdown through the new tips by employee report under transaction reports.
The current version of the software, available for supported users, is 21.7.2. To get back on support, or to upgrade to phone support from email support, contact sales at (919) 387-7597 x100. If you are not on phone support, and you call, a response will be sent to the email address on file. You can also buy a support incident from our website.

As a reminder to users of Windows 7, Microsoft's support of this version of Windows has ended as of January 14th, 2020. We highly recommend getting onto Windows 10 if you are on older versions of Windows. Versions of ExtremePOS, Musicware, Praiz, and ThunderPOS 4.0 and above should all be compatible with Windows 10; versions before 4.0 were sunset for support as of the end of 2019.

If you are on a version older than 4.0 that has been sunset, you can contact sales for information on purchasing an update.
