STAFF APPRECIATION FUNDRAISING
Dear BHS Families,

Our Fall Teachers Appreciation Luncheon for the 2021-2022 school year hosted by PTSA will be held on October, 13th. Due to this ongoing pandemic, we decided not to accept the donation of home-made food from parents. No doubt our teachers would miss that so much. But no worries, we will order yummy Bento boxes instead, from the local restaurant, to make everyone less concerned. All parents are highly encouraged to Donate for this luncheon. We appreciate the teachers for their dedication to our students; we also appreciate all parents for their support to our dear teachers.

Please click here to show your love to our teachers. (Or simply copy and paste this link: https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=TKZDH83JM5TGS

GRADING PRACTICES FOR 2021-2022
Changes to grades for the previous school year (2020-21), that were put into place in January of 2021, prioritized compassion for students and social, emotional, and mental health due to the impact of remote learning were for the 2020-21 year and will NOT continue for the 2021-22 school year. Specifically:
  • Reporting NC (credit courses) and NE (non-credit courses) instead of F grades
  • Reporting D grades as P grades
  • Student/family option to report a P instead of a C or B grade
Teachers will continue to use grading practices that support students and provide flexibility to demonstrate learning and understanding of standards. Examples include the four evidence-based practices below that were implemented last school year and designed to result in grades that are more reflective of student learning. The implementation of these practices will continue for the 2021-22 school year
  1. Classroom assessment is aligned to standards
  2. Students are provided with multiple opportunities to demonstrate learning
  3. Students can re-take and/or re-do summative assessments
Late work used to assess student learning is fully recognized to demonstrate proficiency

BHS GIRLS SOCCER
Another Amazing Week for BHS Girls Soccer! Our BHS Girls dominated their opponents again, resulting in wins across all teams! Bellevue is now the only undefeated program in League Play! Lets GO!
Varsity and JV beat Interlake and Lake Washington while our JV-C team swept Interlake and Mercer Island. Way to go Girls!

Our BHS Girls Soccer teams also partnered with Bellevue United this past week hosting a free clinic 80 female youth soccer players. Such a great experience for our girls to coach and teach, while allowing future lady Wolverines the opportunity to play in the BHS Stadium. It was such a rewarding experience for all! See pic below!

Then we appreciated our fans Thursday night with delicious HOT coco, and yummy cookies at Fan Appreciation Night. The match-up against Lake Washington made for very competitive and physical Varsity and JV games. The last time these 2 teams met was in the 2019 3A State Championship game so there was much anticipation. Our teams celebrated 3-1 (Varsity) and 2-0 (JV) victories over the defending LW state champions.

We have another exciting week of soccer this week with match-ups against Mercer Island and Juanita. Please come out and cheer on our teams! JV and Varsity teams will travel to Mercer Island on Tuesday (JV 5:30pm/ V 7:30pm). Then home game BHS vs. Juanita on Thursday (JV 6pm/ V 8pm). JV-C plays Liberty at BHS on Monday (8pm) and travels to Juanita on Wednesday (7pm).
