Concrete pipe production increases at Lockhart Facility
|
The concrete pipe production facility in TurnerCo's Lockhart facility has increased. To boost production, TurnerCo installed a reconditioned packerhead pipe machine from Louisiana. The additional plant produces high quality reinforced concrete pipe in sizes 36-inch diameter and smaller in lengths of 8 feet.
This increased capacity at the Lockhart facility complements the high-volume automated BFS Souveraen system that produces pipe with diameters ranging from 18 to 60 inches.

Cinco de Mayo is a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. TurnerCo's family includes many employees whose families have strong ties to communities in Mexico. The origin is a celebration of the Mexican army's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 during the Franco-Mexican War.
TurnerCo's entire family came together to celebrate with tacos, a piñata, and karaoke!

Oversized precast concrete boxes escorted to the Grand Prairie Public Works Training Center
TurnerCo. produces precast concrete boxes for constructing large water meter vaults. On March 8 components for two vaults were shipped from TurnerCo’s Rhome production facility to the Grand Prairie Public Works Training Center at 319 N Belt Line Road. Because of the oversized dimensions and weight of the concrete structures, the delivery vehicles were escorted to the job site.
Products supplied included precast concrete elements for one 15-foot x 13-foot x 10-foot 6-inches meter vault weighing 91,684 lbs and elements for a second vault,12-foot x 8-foot x 11-foot 6-inches weighing 76,765 lbs.

TurnerCo produces box sections for many applications at Rhome and Lockhart facilities
Precast concrete box sections are produced at TurnerCo’s Rhome and Lockhart facilities in standard and special designs for a wide variety of applications. Precast boxes are commonly specified for culverts and small bridges, but they can be applied for so much more to build resilient infrastructure.
Box culverts are placed routinely under highways, railways, and at airports. Sections are used to construct stormwater detention and retention structures where ponds are not an option. In some cities they are specified for sanitary sewers. They are specified for pedestrian and animal crossings of major highway transportation systems and railways. Precast boxes are used for drainage systems that may run for miles and marine structures. Box sections have been specified for transportation tunnels and can be jacked, just like concrete pipe. Precast box sections are used for utility and service galleries under heavily travelled urban streets and pump stations. Precast concrete box sections are specified for many applications other than “box culverts.”
Box sections at both Turner facilities are produced according to ASTM C1577, “Standard Specification for Precast Reinforced Concrete Monolithic Box Sections for Culverts, Storm Drains, and Sewers Designed According to AASHTO LRFD.” See https://www.theturnerco.com/.../reinforced-concrete-boxes/.
