Honeybee hives are similar to the MOPHA. At face value, there is a hierarchy of leadership, but the reality is that each bee, including the queen, is no more important than any other bee. Each bee has a role, and those roles work together to create a thriving community.
This term, I would like to mimic the role of the honeybee by creating a “Bee-Theme” for our monthly Zoom meetings. For our first Zoom Meeting, themed “Bee Proud”, I’m looking forward to sharing the highlights of our recent successful National Convention and stressing the importance of the #PurpleHeartProud hashtag. By beginning to recognize potential supporters, sponsors, and marketing opportunities, we can build our image in a grassroots effort to build a stronger, more effective “hive”.
Bees understand the importance of working together. Bees can’t thrive alone, but they thrive together. Our members have different roles, whether it be in a leadership position, a committee member, or a brand-new recruit. We are all important to the viability and health of the MOPHA. When the smallest unit succeeds, we all succeed. Let us continue our accomplishments by pollinating our units and Departments with good deeds and positive motivation.
So let’s “Bee Proud” and work together to create a stronger more viable “Hive”.
