The Lilabean Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research
11 children are diagnosed with a brain tumor every day and less than 4% of all funds raised by the National Cancer Institute are applied to childhood cancer research. These statistics hit home for
JBG SMITH's
Gary Cook when he got to know his daughter's friend, Lila, who is living with an inoperable, Grade 2 astrocytoma. Gary serves on the Board of the Foundation founded in Lila's honor, The
Lilabean Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research (LBF). Over the last six years, the Foundation has donated over $800,000 to The Brain Tumor Institute at Children's National Medical Center. Some of the first fundraisers were held in Gary's backyard! On
November 3rd, the Foundation will hold its annual Fall Ball auction and fundraiser.
