APRIL 2022
The Mitcham Library Service is continuing to operate due to COVID-19 in a safe manner including masks, QR codes and hand sanitiser. We monitor and review the situation and provide updates on our social media channels and website.
Public holiday closures
Easter Friday 15 April - Monday 18 April
Anzac Day Monday 25 April
The Mitcham Memorial Library and Blackwood Library will be closed for Easter and Anzac Day.

The after hours returns chutes will be open. When full they will automatically close off. Please do not leave items outside the library as you will remain responsible for these items.

Build-a-play theatre workshop

Unleash your creativity and develop your very own play! As a team we will develop, construct and perform a play YOU helped develop. Participants will learn the process of developing a story-line, plot, creating a character, costuming and more!

Poetry reading: Of Magpies and Kookaburras
Blackwood Library | Monday 9 May | 1.30pm
Join us for a poetry reading from Of Magpies and Kookaburras by local poet Margaret Samways, read by Sally Ann Hunter and Dianne Reid. Samways provides a glimpse into her life that includes happy, sad, touching, and introspective moments that remind others that this journey on Earth is meant to be lived fully and not without laughter and tears.

New directions

The staff recently held a breakfast in our lovely Mitcham Memorial Gardens to say farewell to Andree Brett as one of our Team Leaders.
Andree has led the staff through many changes over 14 years and her calm, caring and wise presence will be greatly missed.

Lost property
Lost a pair of glasses, a bookmark or even a well loved child’s toy? This old postcard from 1907 was in a book.

Ask staff to check out lost property if you think you may have left something behind. We really do like finding homes for lost items.
Book Discussion Groups - spaces available!
There are limited spaces available at both Mitcham and Blackwood book groups. Groups meet monthly on set days.

Blackwood Library during the bushfire season
The Blackwood Library will close when an EXTREME or CATASTROPHIC fire warning is declared for the Mount Lofty Ranges District.
 
Library items can be returned via the after-hours chutes. When full the chute will automatically close off. Please do not leave items if the chutes are closed.
 
The Mitcham Memorial Library remains open as usual.
