CELL PHONE TOWER
After two months of groundwork, DW Tower, LLC began installing the cell tower at Fort Tuthill County Park earlier this month. The cell tower is outfitted like a pine tree to blend into the local landscape and will provide improved cell service to county staff, partners, and park visitors.

Infrastructure work is expected to be finalized in October and approved carriers AT&T and Verizon installing their receivers at that time. The cell tower is capable of hosting a total of four service providers.
FORT TUTHILL UTILITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
This month, the Fort Tuthill Utility Improvement Project contractor, Overley's, installed the new 16” water line and the new 18” concrete-encased, ductile iron pipe in the floodway north of the community of Mt. Dell. They also began conducting work on the sewer line at the FUTS intersection with Mt. Dell Road.

FUTS temporary reroutes at the south end (from Purple Sage Road into Fort Tuthill County Park) remain in place and trail users are temporarily rerouted onto Purple Sage Road. Please watch for vehicular traffic and follow detour signs.

SOLDIERS TRAIL GETS SUSTAINABLE REROUTES
Parks & Recreation received a federal Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant from the Arizona State Parks Board to conduct maintenance and make sustainable improvements to the Fort Tuthill trail system.

The 5-mile, multi-use Soldiers Trail, completed in 2000, has not undergone thorough maintenance since that time, and this grant helps address trail sustainability and watershed protection.

Flagline Trails, the contractor working on this project, finished the biggest of the reroutes in early September, taking the trail out of the drainage at the bottom of the campground.

This leaves one more reroute to implement, then they will conduct maintenance on the rest of the trail, with a projected completion in October. Read more.
