The Renaissance of Duncan Plaza
The Renaissance of Duncan Plaza in Massillon, Ohio is complete. This $1.5 million redesigned plaza features an amphitheater and seating areas along the walls and raised areas with table seating.
Hammontree was hired by John Patrick Picard Architect, Inc. to provide civil engineering design including layout plans, grading, drainage and water quality rain garden design.
The original Duncan Plaza was constructed in 1976 and honors Mr. James Duncan, a founder of Massillon, who donated the property. The Plaza has hosted many city events over the years including: night concerts, Massillon Museum's Island Party and Tigers Football Team Pep Rallies to name a few. The newly renovated Plaza can accommodate more than 1,000 and will be used for additional events including weddings. Project Architect, John Patrick Picard told the crowd at the ribbon cutting ceremony, May 27, 2021, "Renaissance is a French word meaning the rebirth of art, culture and architecture, I believe we captured a real renaissance with this project."
