Roslyn Public Schools
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

January 25, 2021

Dear Roslyn Families and Staff,

Beginning tomorrow and for the remainder of this week, Harbor Hill Elementary School will switch to Full Remote Learning for all students.

We plan to return to in-person learning on Monday, February 1, 2021.

This action is necessary because an increasing number of individuals have been required to quarantine. It has simply become insurmountable to operate this school in a safe and effective manner. This switch will allow our students to learn from the safety of their homes, and decrease any chance of the virus entering the building.

This does not mean that the entire student body and staff at Harbor Hill are under quarantine. Only those individuals who were notified to quarantine during our internal contact tracing process- or by the Nassau County Department of Health-will be required to do so.

I know that a switch to remote learning is a challenge for many parents, and I want to assure you that this is always our last resort. Our school buildings provide an exceptionally safe environment, but we have no control over the positive cases that enter our buildings.

I greatly appreciate all the Roslyn School District staff members and the families in our community for following the guidance as we navigate our way through this surge.

As always, thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Sincerely,

Allison Brown
Superintendent of Schools
