Please know that as an Early Childhood Center, we are not under that mandates of the local school systems around us. We will be opening as scheduled.  It is so important that children still have security, community, friendships, routine and fun.  Any changes that we will be implementing this year will be reviewed periodically in case that procedure needs to be revised.  All procedures, policies and practices are put into place after first reviewing mandates and best practices from the CDC, Lucas County Health Department and the Ohio Department of Education.  Although we can't eliminate the risk to exposure to Covid-19, we will be doing everything we can to reduce the risk of exposure.
If you have not read through ALL of our first issue, please do so now before proceeding.  Many of your questions will be answered there.

When you are ready to read this particular newsletter, please know that a lot of thought was put into how we can keep students, faculty and families safe while still providing a sense of normalcy.
We have had a parent at our school reach out and offer to provide a backpack and supplies for a couple of students in need.  If you are struggling right now, please don't hesitate to reach out and contact the office.  Pay it forward when you can!  Thank you to the awesome parent who offered! <3

PK5 A & B Announcement

We are sad to say that Mrs. Lori was offered a position teaching at Emmanuel Christian where as an employee, her children can attend for free. Mrs. Lori felt that it was the right thing to do for her family so she accepted although she was very sad to leave us.  We wish her well and hope she comes for a visit.

We are happy to announce that Miss. Bree Elwartoski has joined our faculty as the PK5 lead teacher.  She is thrilled to be teaching PK and has been working diligently to get everything prepared for a wonderful year.
Bree is a recent graduate of The University of Toledo, with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. Bree is a Bedford native, and she is happy to be working with little ones near the same area she grew up. She has a passion for learning and is so excited to have her first classroom home at St. Catherine's!  Bree gives of herself through volunteering with Make-a-Wish and other organizations like the one she founded called "Heavenly Ever After".  Heavenly Ever After is a charitable non-profit dedicated to helping sick children.  Welcome Bree!  We are happy to have you with us!
Classroom Ratios and Splits

As mentioned in an earlier letter, most classrooms will be split into 2 groups.  The Governor has allowed us to return to large groups (up to 28) however, we feel it isn't prudent to do so.  We will keep our classes small and continue with our plan with A/B splits. Please note that if there are more than 9 listed in your child's split it is because students are not all full time.

School supply drop off will be done by appointment. Links to sign ups were emailed to the email we have on file.  If you need a resend of the link please call the office.  (419) 478-9900 or email [email protected]
The office utilizes the Remind App for short updates, notifications, emergency announcements, delays, closures and more.  It would be very beneficial to sign up for our announcements via this system.  Download the app and join our "class".
The class name: St. Catherine ECEC SY20/21
Case Code: @47bggc

We will be having a small school aged child care this year to accommodate the needs of our faculty children who attend schools which do not meet daily in person.  Once all faculty needs are met, we are opening up space for the siblings of our current students.  There is currently a list forming.  We will try to accommodate as many students as we can safely schedule while still staying within the 9 per class limit.  The cost is $20/day.  The teacher will assist students with school work, linking into class meetings digitally, managing assignments etc.  Please contact the office for more information.  Due to licensing, we will not mix SACC with the PS/PK extended day so there will not be availability for a student in the SACC to stay past 3:30 PM

If your child will need Extended Day Services please read below.
If you have not responded to Ext day preferences (even if you do not know or you won't need ext day) -Please click below and answer the extended day survey.  We will use the results of the survey to plan for AM & PM extended day.  Once we have a plan in place we will ask you to register for extended day services.  Ext day is $6/hour

All families must read the handbook.  Once the handbook is read, please download and sign the handbook form indicating that you have read and will adhere to the policies within the handbook or click the link to sign the agreement digitally

  1. Be patient! In the beginning of the year it may take a little bit to get through the line but as time passes, the process becomes smooth & quick when we work together
  2. Follow directions on maps below
  3. Please avoid large gaps in lining up
  4. As the line forms, DO NOT block the exit on N. Haven side
  5. Do not park  and walk up to get your child. Do remain in your car and wait in line. Your child will be brought to you while in the line.
  6. Watch for the line to move, move when there is space to move.
  7. Do NOT drive around a loading car unless waved on by a faculty member then proceed cautiously.
  8. Drive slowly in the lot both while entering and exiting
  9. If you wish to speak to a teacher for more than a couple minutes about your child, please make an appointment, email, use the class app or call. Safety is essential at pickup and the teacher is paying attention to the children, the identity of those picking up and the safety in the lot so unfortunately, she cannot have a lengthy conversation at pick up time.
  10. Those sent to pick up a student must have an ID handy and must be on the pickup list.
Put your school license plate in your right dash car window with name facing outward
