Scope of Practice Legislation of Concern to Physicians
Medicare Definition of Physician to Include Psychologists In Bill
HR 884, the Medicare Mental Health Access Act has been pushed forward in Washington to change scope of practice laws in federal programs. Through this legislation, congress would change Medicare's definition of "physician" to include psychologists. Psychologists would be legislated to practice as physicians among our most vulnerable patients, those in inpatient and partial hospital settings. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), American Psychatric Association (APA), and the American Medical Association (AMA) oppose this proposed legislation, but your voice is needed. Please fill in a short form letter and make your voice heard. Sign letter.
