The EEHOA Annual Meeting on Zoom last week was well attended.  Here are a few highlights...
  • Message from Secretary, Ken Lindeman..."I want to thank all the people who ran for and the people that voted in the election.  We had an excellent candidate ballot and we had a very good voter turn out.  All candidates received a good share of votes.  Our new board members are Kay Bonham, Gary Rautio and Kevin Welsh."
  • Tom Cooke presented commemorative bricks to two residents for their outstanding volunteer contributions in Esperanza Estates.  The bricks will be installed at the Ramada.

    • Greg Gramstad ...."A Most Valuable Guy"
  • Kevin Welsh has replaced Greg Gramstad as EE Pickleball Court Master.
  • Jackie Rautio announced the the Enhancement Committee has donated $500 to the local Food Bank. The funds are from the Enhancement Comittee's fund raising activities.
2021 EE Neighborhood Directories

Gardeners
From Mary Harp
The Gardener's meeting on Tuesday, 1/26, is canceled due to cold and possible snow.
Electrical Problem at the Pool
From Tom Cooke
A serious electrical issue caused the pool to be closed for about 12 hours last Tuesday, but has been repaired. The problem was  serious enough to require the intervention of Trico, our residential utility company.
Optimist Sausage Sale
The Optimists are having a Super Bowl Sale of their famous Italian Sausage.  Order at: http://squareup.com/store/sausage.
Pickup at: Triple Play on February 6th from 9 am-12 pm.
Proceeds go to Kids in our local area.
Help Keep Our Walks Clear
One of the things that makes Esperanza Estates a special neighborhood is that we are "walker friendly."  We have terrific sidewalks, trails, and parks right outside our doors.  Here are a couple of reminders to help maintain our walking routes.
  • If you smoke when you walk, please take your cigarette butts home with you.  No one wants to pick up others' cigarette butts.
  • If your pet or trash can kicks rocks onto the sidewalk, please kick the rocks back where they belong.  It's a danger...rocks on the path have caused walkers to twist their ankles and fall.
  • Please make sure your vehicles don't block the sidewalk.
Thanks in advance for your help!
CARING CONNECTIONS
Elizabeth "Liz" Smith Johnson
We are sad to announce that Liz Johnson, Placita Nueva, passed away on January 17 at the age of 95 after a long illness.  Liz and and her husband Robert (deceased) lived in EE for 23 years.  Our sincere condolences to Liz's family; her brother, Orville Smith (who lives in EE); and her friends.  No services are planned at this time.

Lost and Found
A black hat was found recently in the street on Circulo Napa.  Inside the hat is the inscription, "Purchased in Dublin, Ireland."  If it is yours, please contact John Leach, 419-615-3088.

Caring Connections is a way to share information about EE neighbors who may be experiencing a health crisis or could use some neighborly assistance.  With the isolation of Covid, we often don't know what's happening right next door.  Our neighbors want to know, so they can help one another.  If you know of a situation, please call Judy Hayes, 720-201-9260, or email jkhayes70@gmail.com.

New Terminology Finding Its Way Into Our In-Pandemic Conversations
thanks to our friend, Craig Surprise

The word..."manslipping"...about the tendency of men to let their masks fall below their noses, appeared in the Times last week.

So...if a woman does it, is it "womanslipping?"  Just asking....
FUNNY BONE

My uncle asked me what does IDK mean. I said "I don't know". He said "Damn, nobody knows!"
