Because Digestive Health Matters
International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders
July 2020 eNewsletter
Greetings!

IFFGD offers a wide range of tools and resources to help you better understand and manage the symptoms of a functional gastrointestinal or motility disorder (FGIMD).

While gastrointestinal disorders are very common, FGIMDs are complex conditions that require long-term care and are often misdiagnosed and mistreated. IFFGD aims to bridge the information gap by providing reliable information on what it is like to live with a chronic digestive condition.

This month we invite you to take a look at some of the resources that IFFGD provides.
Literature Resources
IFFGD's Publications Library (Brochures, Fact Sheets, and Articles), is uniquely devoted to providing reliable information about gastrointestinal disorders and digestive health.

Most of the information in our library is written by medical thought leaders from around the world.
IFFGD’s library contains resources created explicitly for our readers and are not readily available elsewhere. We work closely with the authors to provide reliable and accurate information on causes, symptoms, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of many disorders.  Click here for resources provided by IFFGD.
One of our aims at IFFGD is to provide updates on news and events of interest to the digestive health community.

With our medical and treatment news, we strive to provide information that is evidence-based and reliable.

July Spotlight
IFFGD Advisory Board Member, Eleanor Cautley
Earlier this year, Eleanor Cautley retired from IFFGD’s Board of Directors.  While we will truly miss her passion for the community, her inspiring leadership has left a lasting impression and legacy at IFFGD. We thank Ms. Cautley for almost thirty years of dedicated service to growing our mission and supporting patients with gastrointestinal disorders.

Ms. Cautley earned her master’s degree from the Department of Rural Sociology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, with an emphasis on data collection and analysis.

During her early career, she was employed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, assisting faculty in research on migrant farm workers, student health, and maternal and infant health.  After which, she led research on population health at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for 22 years, managing data and reporting results from several statewide studies.
When Nancy Norton founded the International Foundation for Bowel Dysfunction in 1991, she asked her friend, Eleanor Cautley, to serve on the initial Board of Directors.  Since its founding, the organization has changed to the International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders to better represent its scope and mission.  From the beginning, Ms. Cautley has supported IFFGD and shown great commitment for our mission while serving as Vice President, Assistant Secretary and Chair of the Nomination Committee at various times.

Now retired, she  enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends.  Ms. Cautley remains committed to IFFGD and the important, unique work that it does.
IFFGD is a nonprofit organization. We rely on donor support to fund research and to provide reliable information and support to those affected by chronic gastrointestinal disorders.
