Updated Event Planning Guidance
This week, Idaho State University amended the on-campus guidance for face coverings to best support in-person instruction and on-campus activities. Face coverings are required indoors for all individuals––regardless of vaccination status––unless alone in a private office, campus residence, or workspace. This requirement also extends to all outside visitors, guests, and patrons.
With our updated face covering guidance in mind, I would like to provide some additional information about on-campus events and activities.
  • The University has updated our Operational Levels for Fall 2021. As of today, August 13, the University is operating under Level White. One of the key categories in the operational levels document pertains to campus events. This document will guide our operational decisions in the coming year, and the levels are reviewed weekly by the Administrative Council using data from the University Health Committee. If a change in operational levels is determined, a campus-wide email will be sent to all faculty and staff.
  • Under our current operational level, on-campus events and in-person activities of any size are allowed.
  • All events should utilize enhanced health and safety precautions, which includes hand sanitizing stations and, if indoors, make disposable masks available. Updated face covering signage is also available on the Roaring Back website under Faculty and Staff Resources.
  • Food service can include served options, boxed meals, and takeaway selections. At this time, events should refrain from using self-serve buffet lines.
  • If possible and weather permitting, consider planning events outside.
  • Unlike last school year, a health exception process is currently not in place. That requirement will change if the COVID-19 situation requires a move to Level Gray or Black.
Feel free to share this email with any members of your team who play a role in planning campus events or activities. If you have specific questions or need further clarification, please send me an email. I will continue to provide additional updates if our event guidelines change.

Thank you,

––Stuart
