Senior Spotlight: Brian Rivers
An Article by Staff Member Kathy Giovando
RIVERS! Okay, so first off you should know that Brian Rivers loves loaded chocolate chip pancakes. I have personally witnessed Rivers eating large stacks of pancakes and seemingly never getting full. Working with Brian over the past two years has been a pleasure. He is consistently thoughtful and hard working. Not only did Rivers thrive during the in person learning, once we had to go remote, he continued to thrive. He came to Zoom daily and not only did every summative that was assigned, but also completed EVERY formative assignment. Outside of school, Rivers enjoys working on his car, dirt biking, and is surprisingly passionate about building and collecting RC cars. He is the type of person that just wants to know what he needs to do and he does it. It is refreshing. We wish Rivers the best of luck after high school and will miss him and his pancake appetite.
Senior Spotlight: AJ Viveiros
An Article by Staff Member Kathy Giovando
AJ is a thoughtful student who made a seamless transition to his senior year. He works well with his peers and strives to get his work done. His ability to work independently makes him stand out. It must be the Dunks coffees and his drive that have helped him succeed. He is a thoughtful student who enjoys engaging with adults. Aj has a unique sense of humor and loves telling stories and can argue with the best of them!

I have had AJ in class multiple times over the past 4 years. I have had the pleasure of watching AJ grow from a quiet, shy freshman, into a confident young adult. I enjoy spending time with AJ in the weight room and bouncing ideas off of each other. I have learned as much from him as he has from me over these past 4 years, and wish him luck in his future!

As a Sophomore I worked with AJ a lot and he is very different as a senior. His maturity is evident in how much more engaged he is in school now. ~Ms Harvey

Good Luck!
PSATs for Juniors and Asynchronous Learning Day for Seniors: 1/26
On January 26th, all juniors will participate in the PSAT. Students will arrive at school at their regular time (7:20-7:30) and will find their name on the roster to see where their testing room is located. Students should proceed directly to their testing room. If parents would like to opt their student out of the test, please complete this form. Once juniors have completed their exam and been dismissed from their testing room, they will be dismissed from school. Transportation will only be provided at the end of the regular school day. Students who attend SST will be excused from SST for the day. If you have been a remote junior, make sure you wear a mask to school and you may park in the tennis court lot. Seniors will have asynchronous classes on this day.
Grace Evans, the District 7-12 Math Coordinator, has put together a helpful guide for students on how to best prepare for the PSAT.

Bus Transportation and Physical Distancing Guidelines for COVID
When we successfully returned to in-person classes in October, families were asked to transport their children to and from school as much as possible to lower the amount of exposure on the bus. This practice reassured numerous parents that their children would be safe during the ride to and from school.

As cases rise in the state, we are also seeing a rise in the number of students taking the bus to and from school. We have recently had several cases of COVID in the district, and bus ridership is a significant area of concern when contact tracing. Bus capacity needs to be kept low, since we cannot extend the size of the bus to accommodate distancing.

We are again asking families to transport their children to and from school as much as possible to lower the amount of exposure on the buses. Salter Transportation is reworking their routes to help us reduce the number of students on buses, but they also need to keep the rides to a manageable length of time.

With spring and vaccines around the corner, we hope this situation is short-lived, and we really need your help so that we can continue to keep our students safe.

PTO Clothing & Shoe Donation Bins
When you drop your unwanted clothing and shoes off in these bins, the SRHS PTO gets paid based on the weight of the clothing! This is a really easy way to help our school. All PTO proceeds go directly back to programming and scholarships that directly benefit our students. NOTE: Shoes must go in a separate bin.

Did you know? From April of 2015 - May 2017, this fundraiser has helped us raise nearly $2400.00 for the PTO. Help us double that number by sharing this opportunity with your friends, your family, and your neighbors!
