Return to School Information

The upcoming schedule is listed below. The end of the second quarter will be Friday, January 29, a half-day for students. The third quarter will begin on Tuesday, February 2.

Please review the upcoming schedule, as there are some changes to which days cohorts will attend school in-person and to A/B days. Some reasons behind these changes to the schedule include:
  • Equalization of in-person days for Cohort 1 and Cohort 2
  • Third Quarter Enrollment Changes - as students can change their enrollment option between NACA and NAI/NASH, student enrollment and schedules need to be adjusted prior to the start of Q3.
Upcoming Half Days

There are two scheduled half days for students during the 2020-2021 school year. The first half-day is scheduled for Friday, January 29. School hours for the first half day are:

  • NASH and NAI - 7:25 a.m. - 11:25 a.m.

Students in grades 9-12 will have lunch before being dismissed.

The second half-day is scheduled for Thursday, April 1. School hours will be the same for the second half-day.
The Actors Society 29 Hour Show

We are excited to announce that “The Actors’ Society 29 Hour Show” will be available for streaming at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 23 at https://tinyurl.com/NASH29HourShow. This student-run production features comedy skits written, performed, directed, and edited entirely by students. Due to the pandemic, this year’s prerecorded show takes the place of the live benefit performance seen in past years. However, please tune in and support our dedicated cast as they perform their skits to support a local charity. Details on how to support the cause will be provided at the link during the show.
We hope to “see” you Saturday, January 23 at 7 p.m.!

Class of 2021 Senior Graduation Memorabilia Order Procedures

On Friday, January 15, the Class of 2021 students and families received an email from Dr. Dirda with information about ordering Senior items from Herff Jones (i.e. Graduation announcements, class rings, other memorabilia). This email included the catalog from Herff Jones along with links to order various commemorative items as well as class rings. Orders for graduation announcements must be received by Sunday, February 14, to guarantee timely delivery. As a reminder, caps/gowns/tassels will be ordered through the high school for all seniors so there is no need for families to place orders for these items.
NASH Tardy to School Form

NASH students/families should complete this form when they are arriving late to school (when learning remotely). Thank you in advance for your assistance. Please forward all excuse information to gfenton@northallegheny.org.
Student Absences

This school year, North Allegheny School District will be accepting student absence excuses electronically through the Tyler SIS Parent Portal. Please forward all excuse information to gfenton@northallegheny.org.

Student excuses will be submitted through an "E-Form", creating a touchless submission option for parents/guardians. This will reduce the amount of paper transmissions between parents/guardians, students, and our staff. Please review the directions to submit an electronic student excuse below and contact your student's building secretary with any questions.

  • Is your child ready for kindergarten?
  • Registration Information
  • Preparing your child for kindergarten
  • Kindergarten Orientation (Process and Transitions)

Transitioning from Blackboard Collaborate to Google Meet

Starting in the second semester, teachers will begin to transition to the use of Google Meet in place of Blackboard Collaborate. This transition is occurring to address some of the technical issues that have been experienced by some families when using the Blackboard Collaborate platform.
Your child’s teacher has been working on setting up Google Meet sessions so that they can be securely accessed through Blackboard in a manner similar to how they accessed classes in Collaborate. As a part of Google Meet security, students cannot enter a Google Meet session unless a teacher is in the session. If your child tries to join a class before the teacher arrives, he/she will receive a message that says “You are not permitted to join the meeting“. If this occurs, your child should wait a few minutes and try again to enter the class.

This document will provide more information about Google Meet. If you have a child in grades K-8, the Google Meet app should already be installed on their iPad, but if it is not, it can be downloaded through the Self-Service app.
