Louisiana CU Hall of Fame Welcomes Six Influential Leaders
LCUL inducted six exceptional individuals into the Louisiana Credit Union Hall of Fame during the opening ceremonies of our 2021 convention. Jointly sponsored by LCUL and the Louisiana Foundation, this prestigious program has been established in order to recognize the valuable leadership, commitment, and contributions of credit union professionals and volunteers throughout the state.

Congratulations to the 2021 Hall of Fame inductees:

Celebrating Marketing Excellence
Louisiana credit unions were recognized with Excellence in Marketing Awards for outstanding marketing and communications efforts. Credit unions submitted entries in a variety of categories and were judged by outside marketing professionals. This year, LCUL added a ‘Best of the Best’ category to showoff the amazing work credit unions are doing. Congratulations to all the winners!
LCUL Announces Marlon Owens as First-Ever Emerging Leader Award Winner
LCUL presented the first-ever Emerging Leader Award to Marlon Owens of Ouachita Valley FCU. Owens was selected from seven Emerging Leader finalists who represented the elite among the promising credit union professionals across the state of Louisiana. The seven finalists received a full scholarship to LCUL’s 2021 Annual Meeting & Convention.

Owens receives a full scholarship to CUNA’s Emerging Leader Institute, an educational event designed to help credit union leaders develop effective management techniques.
Celebrating the Credit Union Philosophy in Action: LCUL/CUNA Recognition Award Winners
LCUL awarded the following Louisiana credit unions with CUNA Recognition Awards. The winners will advance to CUNA's national competition, awarded during the Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C.

Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award
St. Tammany FCU ($0-$50 mil in assets)
Ascension CU ($50-$250 mil in assets)
Ouachita Valley FCU($250-$1 bil in assets)

Desjardin Youth Financial Literacy Award
St. Tammany FCU ($0-$50 mil in assets)
First Pioneers FCU (50-$250 mil in assets)
Pelican State CU ($250-$1 bil in assets)

Desjardin Adult Financial Literacy Award
Ouachita Valley FCU($250-$1 bil in assets)
CULAC Challenge Champions
Committee Chair Lawoka Bolden with First Pioneers FCU announced the CULAC Challenge winners during the closing ceremonies. The Lafayette Chapter was the recipient of the "CULAC Challenge Champion" award for highest percentage raised 695.83%. The Baton Rouge Chapter was presented an award for raising the most money- $27,581.95.

Through the efforts made by credit union professionals and volunteers during the 2021 CULAC Challenge, Louisiana credit unions managed to raise over $107,000.

Rock n Bowl, Silent Auction Raise Donations and Awareness for Louisiana CU Foundation
We want to thank everyone for their support of the Louisiana Credit Union Foundation during this year's convention. Through the Silent Auction and the Rock n Bowl Fundraiser event, we have raised over $10,000!
Panel Perfection: Attendee Engagement Amps Up
LCUL increased attendee engagement by hosting a number of panel discussions throughout the event. Taking center stage was Dr. Troy Hall has he facilitated an informative panel with three Louisiana credit union executives discussing workplace cohesion and corporate culture: challenges, obstacles, trends, and successes. Special thanks Rodney Parker with Centric FCU, Monica Declouet with University of Louisiana FCU, and Tyler Grodi with EFCU Financial.

We would also like to extend a thank you to Jessica Sharon with Pelican State CU, Chad Miller with Southwest Louisiana CU, and Brian Leger with Meritus CU who participated in a pre-conference panel discussing the grant writing process, sharing 'how to' tips along with resources and best practices.
