We at AHAI continue to be supportive to our affiliates and remain optimistic that we will eventually have a season. Rosters are being certified, teams and leagues are formed, all we need now is the green light from the Governor.

Keeping Things Positive Will Be Key in a Youth Hockey Season Unlike Any Other

It's going to take an extra effort from both coaches and players to make the season run smoothly and be as enjoyable as possible. With so much uncertainty going on, it will be helpful for coaches and players to inject some positivity into the season that will benefit everyone. AHAI Will Host Several Virtual CEP Clinics in October
By Jim Clare, Illinois Coach-In-Chief - AHAI will be hosting several Coaching Education Program (CEP) Clinics in October.
- Virtual Level 1: October 17 and October 18 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
- Virtual Level 2: October 13 and October 15 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
- Virtual Level 3: October 27 and October 29 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

IHOA Adds Virtual Level 4 and 2-Part Level 1 Officiating Seminars
IHOA has added a Virtual Level 4 seminar on October 29 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and a 2-part Virtual Level 1 seminar November 4-5 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm with optional on-ice session on November 7 at Joliet Inwood Ice Arena.  Having Fun with Lake Forest Forward Clarissa Letang By Ross Forman - Clarissa "Issa" Letang is the lone Libertyville High School student skating for the co-op Lake Forest girls' team, which has won back-to-back Founders Cup Championships and three in the past four years. The Scouts mix players from six schools: Lake Forest, Stevenson, Libertyville, Highland Park, Deerfield, and Woodlands Academy. Lake Forest won the Illinois High School Hockey State Championship in 2011 and 2013.
"I like to have fun (on the ice), but also take the game seriously," said Letang, 16, a junior who lives in Lake Forest in her third season on the Scouts' varsity team. "It's fun (playing for a co-op team) because you get to know people younger and older than you and you get to know people from other schools which is always nice. READ MORE>> |
 The Warriors Way: Jack Gerber Leads Deerfield Offense By Ross Forman - Jack Gerber is a playmaking goal-scorer, unquestionably one of the best and flashiest forwards in the state - and he has been throughout his four-year varsity career for Deerfield. Let's drop back to his sophomore season. The Warriors were playing in a tournament in Madison, Wisc., yet were trailing 3-0. Gerber tallied a hat trick, then set up linemate Sam Paley for the overtime game-winner. Then last season, as a junior, he helped lead Deerfield to one of the school's best season ever.  39 Players Named to 2021 U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp; List Includes Illinois' Alex Vlasic and Owen Lindmark
By USA Hockey - USA Hockey has invited 39 players to its 2021 U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp that will be held from Oct. 8-13 in Plymouth, Michigan, at USA Hockey Arena. Invitees include Illinois' Alex Vlasic (Wilmette) and Owen Lindmark (Naperville). The camp is part of the evaluation process in selecting the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 25, 2020, through Jan. 5, 2021, in Edmonton, Alberta.  Host Sites Announced for 2022 USA Hockey National Championships
USA Hockey announced the 2022 USA Hockey National Championships host sites. Ten different cities in six states will crown champions nationwide, stretching from Kalamazoo, Mich., to Mansfield, Texas.
USA Hockey has conducted the country's ice hockey National Championship tournaments since 1938, with teams from all across the United States crowned champions across various classifications. As part of USA Hockey Nationals, more than 4,000 players compete for American hockey top honors at youth, girl's, women's, sled, high school and adult levels. VIEW LOCATIONS>> |
 New Dates Announced for 16th Annual Toyota - USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Festival
The 16th annual Toyota-USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Festival will take place April 8-11, 2021, and April 15-18, 2021, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Games will be played at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, RMU Island Sports Center and Baierl Ice Complex. The first weekend of the Festival runs April 8-11 with sled hockey, including the USA Hockey Sled Hockey National Championship. The Festival concludes the following weekend (April 15-18) and features five of USA Hockey's disabled disciplines, including blind, deaf/hard of hearing, special, standing amputee and warrior. The A Step aHead partners are excited to announce the 10th year of our program! We are proud of the work that has been done to educate our youth hockey community about sports safety and provide free baseline neurocognitive testing. We look forward to another 10 years of working to keep our athletes safe while they play the game they love.
