MAYOR'S MESSAGE
From Mayor Leonard Desiderio...

Following a weekend highlighted by beautiful summer weather, on Monday afternoon many of us gathered in front of our Sea Isle City Beach Patrol headquarters to honor (and surprise) Beach Patrol Chief Renny Steele, who is celebrating his 50th year as a lifeguard in Sea Isle City. Chief Steele’s five decades with the SICBP have established him as the longest-serving lifeguard in Sea Isle City history, and has made him one of the most well-known city employees our community has ever had.

HOUSEHOLD TRASH
Please Do Not Place Household Trash
In Public Receptacles

In recent weeks, household trash has been discovered in many of Sea Isle City’s public trash cans – in particular on the beaches. This unfortunate occurrence has delayed daily trash collections and has also resulted in overflowing trash cans, which causes liter to blow in the wind and negatively impacts the local environment.

Local Ordinance 18-2.14 (titled: “Dumping Prohibited in Public Receptacles”) specifically prohibits the placement of household trash in public trash receptacles (including trash cans on the beach, along the sidewalk, on the Promenade, and in other public areas).

All residents and visitors are reminded that each residential street has two curbside trash and recycling collections per week during the “Summer” collection schedule, and the City’s Trash Deport / Recycling Drop-Off Area at 401 JFK Boulevard (next to the Bridge) is open every day from 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. for household trash and recycling drop-offs (no fee required).

If you have questions about trash and recycling in Sea Isle City, please phone the Recycling Coordinator at 609-263-6000, ext. 14.

BEAUTIFICATION AWARDS
Nominate A Property You Admire

Is there a property that you admire? The Sea Isle City Environmental Commission is now accepting nominations for their 33rd Annual Beautification Awards. Local properties (businesses or private homes) that have shown improvement in their overall appearance, display attractive architecture and landscaping, or have maintained an eye-catching appearance will be considered for this yearly honor. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to nominate a property they feel should be considered for a 2020 Beautification Award – and property owners can even nominate their own homes or businesses.

Nomination forms are available at the Sea Isle City Welcome Center’s walk-up window, in the lobby of City Hall, and online at www.seaislecitynj.us (click the “Forms / Tourism” link on the home page). All nomination forms must be submitted by September 9.
