Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Congrats to the Class of 2021! Happy Juneteenth Day! June is a month of celebrations, as we honor our graduates and commemorate Juneteenth (June 19th), marking the end of slavery in the U.S.

In June, we partnered with the San Mateo County Office of Education and SUHSD to present The Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® trainings, part of SMCOE's programs and services to support community-wide mental health.

The two-part workshop focused on six CRM® wellness skills, as well as the neuroscience behind the model. The CRM workshops are designed to reset the nervous system by bringing the body, mind, and spirit into greater balance.

If you missed the trainings, the video of CRM Training: Part 1 just posted to our Video Library, and CRM Training: Part 2 will be available soon. Here are links to the slides for Part 1 and Part 2.

This year, we are proud to report that The Parent Education Series provided education for over 16,000 parents, students, educators, and community members.

We pivoted from in-person to virtual programming, lowered barriers to access, and offered high-quality events to more families than ever before!

How to Help Your Adolescent Think About the Last Year
Hint: It’s not a “lost year.” Also, screen time with friends? It’s good for their mental health.
As the nation pivots from trauma to recovery, many mental-health experts and educators are trying to spread the message that parents, too, need a reset. If adults want to guide their children toward resilience, they need to get their own minds out of crisis mode.
