Expect to hear from us regularly all summer long as we provide more and more details about the Return to Learn plan for the 2020-21 school year. Today we share a link to our updated FAQ that addresses several questions about the start of next school year and a list of the remaining virtual meetings we are holding this week about the Return to Learn plan. In addition, our director of health services shares an article on how to explain the importance of face masks to children. Read on for this and more.

As DMPS continues to develop and refine details of our Return to Learn plan for the 2020-21 school year, we are committed to sharing information important to students and families as soon as possible. One way is a list of frequently asked questions on our web site. Click here to see our responses to questions that apply to many of our students and families. Since first posting the FAQ late last week we have updated and added more questions and answers;  be sure to check back from time to time as we respond to new questions and provide additional information.
JOIN THIS WEEK'S VIRTUAL RETURN TO LEARN MEETINGS
DMPS is holding a series of virtual meetings for families to learn more about the Return to Learn plan and help decide the option that makes the most sense to begin the new school year. There are still seven more sessions this week (five in English and two in Spanish).

TIPS ABOUT FACE MASKS AND STUDENTS
DMPS will be requiring the use of face masks in school buildings when classes resume next month. We understand that, for some children, this might seem a little strange or even scary. Our director of health services, Diane Gladson, has an article to share that provides some tips for parents on how to help your children understand the importance of masks during this time. FREE MEAL SITES CONTINUE ALL SUMMER LONG
Des Moines Public Schools has distributed a million meals since the district food and nutrition team began serving hungry children when school buildings closed in mid-March. A reminder that DMPS will continue to serve high-quality, nutritious meals throughout the summer to children ages 1 - 18.  The 22 meal sites are open weekdays from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. DMPS HR BUS TOUR ROLLS OUT THIS WEEK
Keep your eyes open for one of our big yellow school buses starting this week! Our HR team will be at several locations this week and next handing out information about open jobs at DMPS and answering your questions.
