A HUGE Thank You, COVID Update,
& Plans for Next Week
Greetings WCCS Families,

I am writing to you today with a HUGE THANK YOU and another important Covid update.

First, THANK YOU.  Thank you for your continued support for WCCS throughout this school year in general and this week in particular.  Thank you for your flexibility as we transitioned to remote learning for middle and high school with short notice.  Thank you for making the most of this remote learning for the last couple of days.  While it is still not like face-to-face, reports from teachers, students, and parents have been encouraging regarding the work that has been accomplished this week.  AND, lastly, thank you for your commitment to love others well by adhering to those best-health-practices in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Second, I do need to share that we have had a few more positive tests reported since my last note - including a second administrator, another staff member, and another student.  Again, ALL potential close contacts have been notified and we are following CDC protocols regarding isolation and quarantine.  It is our continued desire to love others well. Given these additional cases, coupled with the expected return date of many close contacts of the earlier cases, we have decided:

ALL UPPER SCHOOL (middle and high school) students will remain in remote learning next Monday and Tuesday.  We believe this will best allow for enough time between potential close contacts while getting us back to face-to-face learning in a reasonable time.

As was true this week, there will be no extra-curricular activities on campus until Wednesday including athletic practices and games (home or away).  It is our hope to return to the spirit week dress-up days when we return to campus for Wednesday through Friday.

As before, ALL LOWER SCHOOL (including both early childhood and elementary) classes will continue to meet face-to-face.  Lower School students who have siblings in middle or high school are still encouraged to attend in person UNLESS they are close contacts to someone with a positive test.  Extended School Care will continue at the lower school as scheduled.

As seems to be the case with this virus, adults seem to be at a greater risk than children.  We want our students to have access to face-to-face learning as soon as possible, but must also be sure we are caring well for the adults who are charged with that learning.  It is likely a common prayer for all of us that God would keep our children safe.  I would ask that you be just as intentional at praying for the faculty, staff, and administration at WCCS - particularly those who are at greater risk!  Allow me to finish where I started… THANK YOU for your continued prayerful support!

Loving God and Others,

Scott Dillon
