We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Todd C. Mockler, Member and Geraldine and Robert Virgil Distinguished Investigator at the Danforth Center since 2011. Todd was a wonderful colleague and friend to many of us at the Center and beyond. He was a talented scientist, entrepreneur, and collaborator who had a positive impact on plant science and understood its potential to improve the human condition. Our hearts are broken, and our deepest sympathies go to his family. Learn more about Todd and his work.

Members of the Missouri General Assembly recently paid a visit to the Danforth Center and got an up-close opportunity to see the power of plant science research. The freshman legislators toured the Center’s cutting-edge facilities, heard from leaders in our innovation community, and learned how the Center is having an impact locally and globally. Sorghum is a remarkable crop: it’s drought-tolerant, heat-resistant, and capable of fueling a more sustainable future. Scientists at the Danforth Center, like Nadia Shakoor, PhD, and Andrea Eveland, PhD, are working to discover more about this powerful plant, and tapping into its power to help heal our world. Learn more about this research.

Biodiversity is essential to all life on Earth—and the growing use of synthetic chemical products to combat agricultural pests puts biodiversity at risk. That’s why startups in the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN2), including Danforth Center spinout Peptyde Bio, are working to create sustainable, biological alternatives to these products, and offering hope for a better tomorrow.
