October 5, 2021
 Greetings!
Don't you love this sweet shoe-tying moment from our Movie and Pizza Night a few weeks ago? It shows what our monthly fellowship events are all about--growing friendships here at church--and learning to love and serve each other as Jesus taught us so well!

Sign ups end tomorrow for our October event-- don't miss our trip to Denver Downs! Scroll down to sign up!

Also, the Children's Committee wants to you to have all the reminders of programming you need --so this month we're starting a Children's Ministry group texting service! You'll receive 2 or 3 texts at most per month. These are one-way texts, so no need to fear the reply all!
We know how busy you are and hope this will help!

See you at church!
Love, Becky

  2. A bag of candy to leave at church for the Phyllis Wheatley Center for their Trunk or Treat

Parents, thank you for signing up to chaperone and to help provide lunch and snack! We now have plenty of chaperones and our food is covered!
If you've signed up as willing to bring food, I'll be in touch in the next day or so. Thank you!

As always, I'll email all our registered families the Thursday before the event with all the details you'll need.
Texts From the Children's Ministry
Beginning this month, the Children's Ministry is trying out a group texting service.

We hear from youth parents that this is so helpful to them, and we hope it will help you too!

At most, you'll receive two or three texts per month. These are one-way reminders of impending events, so no need to worry about replies!

A Short Break for Becky
I'll be out of the office October 12-23 for a very happy reason!
I'll be joining my husband in France as he works there two weeks. We lived there from 1999-2003 and loved our time there.
I'll be sending you good wishes!
Please Share the Load in Protecting Our Children
We're asking all of our dads and moms and guardians to get certified in Protecting Our Children in order to safely share the load in chaperoning activities for our kids.

POC certification is required to volunteer in any way with children at church, from bringing snacks to the Gathering Room on Sundays to chaperoning events like our Movie and Pizza Night or our trip to Denver Downs.

POC requires turning in some paperwork to be used for a background check, watching three short videos and completing the accompanying quizzes.

It takes about three weeks once the paperwork is submitted to get the background checks finished, and POC certification is good for three years.

You can find the POC application (paperwork) here. It can be turned into Juli Morrow at juli.morrow@firstbaptistgreenville.com

Any questions? Contact Becky Ramsey or Juli Morrow.
Thank you for helping to keep our children safe at church!
To Come to Church or Not to Come, A Covid Question... And More about Masks
Dealing with Covid-19 is terrible enough, but it can be confusing as to when kids can come back to church after Covid in the home or after exposure.

As followers of the gospel, we always want to protect the most vulnerable among us, so here are two guidelines to consider:
  1. If there is a case of active Covid in the home, we ask the whole household to stay home from church, whether vaccinated or not, whether isolating the infected person or not, no matter the results of Covid tests.
  2. Please consult your medical provider about when it is safe to come back to church and school.

Also, just to be clear, masks are now required of everyone in our building, 3 years old and up.

Thanks so much for helping us keep everyone safe!
Have You Registered Your Child Yet for FBG Activities?
Be like these smiling people and get your child registered HERE.

Not only does your registration let us know who might participate in our programming but it also works as a permission slip for all 2021-2022 activities through the summer!
Thanks!
