Dear Oakies,

The end of April brought us our first Alumnae Week and I'm happy to report that it was a great success! Thank you to all who were able to join us for the various events throughout the week; it was so nice connecting with all of you! We are already looking forward to next year's events! Pictures and a recap of the week are included in this issue.

In early May, we welcomed the next generation of Oakies, as alumnae Gabrielle (Anderson) Carrington '92 and Nancy (Williams) Miggins '98 along with their daughters attended the New Oakie Welcome Party and joined the ranks of alumnae with daughters attending Oakcrest.

As the school year comes to a close, please mark your calenders, RSVP, and join us for an afternoon of food, fun and friends on Saturday, June 12th for our Alumnae BBQ where we welcome all of our new Oakie Alumnae from the Class of 2021. All alumnae are invited and kids and spouses are welcome too!

As always, don't hesitate to reach out to me and I look forward to seeing you at the Alumnae BBQ!

OAKIES IN ACTION
ALUMNAE WEEK 2021
Alumnae Day of Service:

Held in conjunction with Oakcrest's Respect Life Club to benefit A Woman’s Choice in Herndon, VA- students held a “baby shower” during the two weeks prior to the Day of Service, which was open to the community and provided a drive-by drop-off option. On the Day of Service, current students and alumnae representing the classes of '89, '91, '95, and '09 collected additional items worked together to bundle the items for the center. Congratulations to alumna, Eileen (Schnabel) Byler '89 for winning the raffle (a comfy Oakcrest long-sleeved tee).

Alumnae Day of Giving:

Thank you all for your generosity during our Spring Day of Giving! Alumnae were challenged to make a donation to Oakcrest that represented their graduation year and an anonymous donor agreed to match every donation received via Venmo, up to $500 dollars. You all stepped up to the challenge and helped us secure the extra donation. Congratulations to the Class of 1997 for being this year's MOST generous class with the overall highest $$$ donations throughout the year. The year's not over yet, if you'd like to support Oakcrest, click here. Way to go Oakies!
Alumnae Virtual Trivia Night:

To celebrate the end of our first Alumnae Week, Oakcrest had its second round of Alumnae Virtual Trivia with hosts Holly Salls and Kathleen Ouyang '09. Members of the classes of '98, '99, '02, '05, '06, '11, '14, '16 and '18 formed teams to compete in three rounds of general trivia.  The competition was fierce and the score was close, with Team "Not Nero" taking home the prize of Amazon Gift cards and bragging rights. We hope you will join us next time!
