State of Alaska Grant Funding AK-ARPA Travel & Business Relief Program

FIRST® LEGO® League Coaches Needed!

Kids across the state are looking for FIRST LEGO League teams, but we need coaches in order to provide this experience for them. You don’t need experience or any special skills, just a desire to help kids participate in a potentially life-changing program and a willingness to spend some time and learn with them. We’ll provide training and resources to help you and the students to have a great experience.

Indicator of the Month
Juneau vacancy rate was 4.4% in 2020, a 1.6% percent drop compared to 2019. In 2021, it rose to 5.4%. The lack of a substantial 2021 cruise season and subsequent smaller seasonal workforce made a difference in housing demand.

New supply was also down with new housing units built in 2020 being the lowest in over 10 years and the first half of 2021 currently on track to be comparable to 2020. Another significant factor that pushed vacancy rates up was the end of the eviction moratorium, which delayed some vacancies until this year.

With daily activities returning in spite of the state of the pandemic, it is likely seasonal demand (and subsequently overall annual prices) will rise without significant changes to pandemic behavior. New dwelling units built in 2021 are on track to be the lowest in the last decade, likely pushing prices to resume their
pre-pandemic upward trajectory.
