As is customary during the summer month of August, we are taking a break from event programming and using this time to gear up for the fall. We were hoping for the return of some in-person events starting in September but with the surge of the Delta variant and precautions taking place with indoor masking once again, we will likely be continuing on with our virtual programs for the time being.
We are also moving forwards with plans for an in-person Christmas Lunch with cautious optimism so please save the date of Friday, December 10th at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. We shall of course keep you posted on that.
In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your summer and stay safe.

BRITISH AIRWAYS ADDS EXTRA SEATS, UK TO REUNITE FAMILIES AS BOOKINGS SURGE BY 95% |

British Airways is adding thousands of extra seats on key routes to the UK from the USA and EU, following a huge increase in interest in travel to London since the UK Government announced that quarantine restrictions would be lifted for fully-vaccinated US and EU customers when traveling to the UK.
- New bookings from the US surged by 95% within hours of the UK Government announcement
- British Airways is adding extra seats from US cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago and European cities including Berlin, Geneva, and Hamburg
- Additional flights will allow US and EU citizens to easily connect to a range of UK destinations such as Newquay, Edinburgh, and Belfast

TURNER & TOWNSEND FORM PARTNERSHIP WITH CBRE |

Turner & Townsend’s strategic partnership with CBRE
CBRE Group, Inc. (NYSE:CBRE) and Turner & Townsend Holdings Limited today announced a definitive agreement whereby CBRE will acquire a 60% ownership interest in, and enter into a strategic partnership with Turner & Townsend, a United Kingdom-based global leader in program, project and cost management.
CBRE will acquire a 60% stake for approximately £960 million ($1.3 billion) in cash, with 55% to be paid upon closing. The transaction preserves Turner & Townsend’s existing leadership team, heritage, operational independence and partnership structure, which will hold the remaining 40% ownership interest. The transaction values Turner & Townsend at approximately £1.6 billion ($2.2 billion) and is expected to be immediately accretive to CBRE’s earnings.
Turner & Townsend provides program management, cost consultancy, project management and advisory consulting services for clients in 46 countries. It operates across three business segments: Real Estate (62% of net revenue) – serving investors and occupiers across all property types, including data centers and life-science properties; Infrastructure (31% of net revenue) – notably, transportation, environmental and power generation projects, and Natural Resources (7% of net revenue) – renewable energy, alternative fuels, liquified natural gas and other projects.

Students in the SFUSD and Bay Area school districts will be returning to in-person learning this upcoming school year. Raphael House needs the support of our community to help our students start the school year prepared and confident!
Low-income families living paycheck-to-paycheck must prioritize essentials like rent, groceries, and health care expenses, and often struggle to purchase school supplies. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated those obstacles and the effects continue to be felt throughout our community. Raphael House’s annual Back-To-School Drive provides children with supplies to succeed in school and allows parents to focus on maintaining their financial stability.
This year, our goal is to provide 200 students with new backpacks and to raise $5,000 through our Back-to-School Fund! We know we can do it with your help!

Air Travel is back!... well, partly
Notes from the CEO - July 2021 – As BritishAmerican Business heads for a summer break in our programming calendar, which coincides with the end of our financial year, it is a good time to reflect on some of the big issues that we have been focused on in recent months and some of the themes for our programming in the fall.
The biggest issue by far for our members in recent months has been the continued restrictions on travel between the U.S. and the UK for the majority of businesspeople. It is therefore terrific news that, from Aug 2nd, the UK will open up quarantine free travel to the UK for doubly vaccinated British ex-pats living in the U.S. and for U.S. citizens too.

BAB Statement on Lifting of Quarantine Restrictions for Vaccinated U.S. Travellers in England
London - July 28, 2021 – In response to today’s news that from 2 August, fully vaccinated travelers from the U.S. won’t have to quarantine when traveling to England, BAB’s Chief Executive Officer, Duncan Edwards, said: “We are very pleased with today’s decision to allow fully vaccinated travelers from the U.S. to enter England without needing to quarantine from 2 August. This is a step in the right direction towards safely opening up the U.S.-UK travel corridor. We will continue to encourage the U.S. government to reciprocate and allow fully vaccinated travelers from the UK to enter the U.S.”
