GENERAL
AGENDA BOOKS
If you haven't picked up your agenda book or one was missing from your Spirit Pack, come to the Main Office during school hours to pick one up. Agenda books are also available for sale at $10 each (check or exact change cash).
 
YEARBOOK PICK UP
If you did not pick up your yearbook for 2019-2020 yet, they are available in the Main Office this week from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. See Catherine Lo Iacono to get yours. There are a limited number of yearbooks for sale as well. Price is $140 (exact change, cash only). Email questions to [email protected].
 
SPIRIT PACKS
If you were unable to make the Spirit Pack pickup last week, there will be one makeup session on TOMORROW, Oct. 7 from noon to 3:00 pm at the ASB office (P115). This is NOT a drive through pickup. You must park and walk to the ASB office. Make sure you are wearing a mask and observe social distancing. Spirit wear will also be available for purchase at the same time, cash or check only.
 
STUDENT MOCK ELECTIONS
Participate in the student mock elections and let your voice be heard. Download the voter information guide here and the mock election will be held via your cell phone during social studies classes TODAY. Students will vote for president, congress member, assembly member, and PVPUSD school board as well as four propositions. Organized by the PTSA legislation and advocacy team, the mock election is part of a statewide effort to foster civic engagement.
 
SENIOR PHOTOS
PSS Imaging will be on campus now through this Thursday, Oct. 8 to photograph those seniors who have made an appointment. Contact PSS Imaging at (714) 630-7785 or (714) 822-5412 to schedule an appointment. Don't delay-after Oct. 8, you have to go to the studio in Anaheim for pictures.
 
PTSA FUNDRAISER
Satisfy your seafood craving and help out our PTSA at the same time. Come to the San Pedro Fish Market in the Peninsula Center this TOMORROW, Oct. 7 between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm, mention that you are a supporter of Pen's PTSA (or download the flyer here) and 15% of your order amount goes to the PTSA. Everyone wins!
 
PTSA MEMBERSHIP
Join the PTSA and support the valuable work it does for Peninsula. Two of its fall programs, the Reflections Arts program and mock elections, are adapted to an online format so students may still continue to participate. Other programs are in the process of being adapted to an online format as well. In addition, the PTSA provides teacher start-up funds to augment distance learning needs through the Classroom Supply Fund. Support your PTSA and join today by clicking here.

The deadline is almost here to be in the PTSA's student directory. You may enter your information here to be included. You do not have to be a member of PTSA to participate in the directory nor do you have to buy one.
 
SNHS
Any juniors or seniors interested in joining the Science National Honor Society, fill out the application here by this Friday, Oct. 9 to secure a spot.
 
TRI-M NHS
Applications for the TriM (Modern Music Masters) National Honor Society are being accepted now through Friday, Oct. 23.

COLLEGE CAREER CENTER
VIRTUAL COLLEGE REP VISITS
The CCC has scheduled virtual college visits through November. Two to three schools will be combined per visit and all meetings are in conjunction with PVHS. You must register on Naviance in order to attend. Teacher permission for visits scheduled during class time must be obtained by the Friday before the visit. Included in this week's visits are Bard; Butler; NYU; Stevens Institute of Tech; Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Notre Dame; Northwestern, Southern Methodist University; Arizona State University; and University of Oregon. LGBT UNITED CLUB
The LGBT United Club has created a TEAMS page to help everyone stay in touch during distance learning. Everyone is welcome to participate. ATHLETICS
TRAINING SESSIONS
Limited training sessions will begin this week for many athletic programs. These sessions are voluntary and participation does not mean that you made the team. Prior to participating, student athletes must do the following:
  • Athletic Clearance
  • Complete the online forms and clearance process by clicking here. Print the certificate of completion and bring it to school along with your original, signed physical to the health office between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Complete the PVPUSD participation waiver here
  • Upon arriving on campus, enter from the SMERT parking gate (Entrance 4). Students must complete each day and be prepared to show the Covid-19 screening you may access here. Then go to your designated practice area.
PROTOCOLS FOR STAYING SAFE
  • Training sessions operate in compliance with current LA County Department of Public Health Guidelines
  • Parents drop off students at Entrance 4 (SMERT gate)
  • Athletes must wear face coverings at all times except for heavy exertion. This includes walking to the practice field or back to your car.
  • No sharing of personal equipment.
  • Bring your own water bottles and gear
  • No locker room access. Limited bathroom access.
  • Do not congregate. No gathering before or after practice.
  • Minimum 6 feet distance between individuals.
  • No parents or outside visitors on campus or at practices
  • Do not come to practice if you are not feeling well or have been around someone who is not feeling well
Practices may begin as early as Wednesday, Oct. 7. If you have specific questions about a sport or practice time, contact the coach directly.
