Another year of Vacation Bible School has come and gone...
Wow, just wow!
We collected 242 food items and $363.76 for the local Food Pantry. What a blessing!
I know the numbers seemed smaller than previous years and I am reminded of this story: Once upon a time, there was a man walking on the beach. He looked down the beach and saw a dancer. As he got closer, he noticed it was a young man, reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them in to the ocean. He came closer still, and called out, " Good Morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?" The young man paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish into the ocean." "Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man. To this, the young man replied, "the sun is up, and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in , they'll die." Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, "But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can't possibly make a difference!" At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, "It made a difference for that one." Each of us, sharing Jesus with each of them, in whatever way we were present, made a profound difference in each life. So thank you, thank you and thank you again for making a difference!

Mission Trip: CUMC is taking a group of volunteers to work in the Midwest Distribution Center in Springfield Illinois. Deadline to join us in this mission trip is August 30 so we can make preparations for transportation and accommodations.
Dates: Monday, September 27 thru Friday Oct 1, 2021.
