Worship (continued)

Available every day (except Sundays) via Zoom, Morning Prayer begins at 9:00 a.m., and Compline at 8:00 p.m.; in order to dodge trolls who are tired of lurking under bridges and hunger for folks to harass, you will need to use the passwords below along with the Zoom addresses:

Christian Formation
Study on Antiracism continues next week, Sundays at 10am
On Sunday, July 5th, we’ll begin a community-wide conversation on antiracism. The primary text for this discussion group will be I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness by Austin Channing Brown. Brown’s memoir of growing up Black, Christian and female in majority-White schools and churches describes her experience of finding her way amidst the racial divide in this country. Brown offers insightful and personal analysis of White Christianity and the church’s attempts at seeking racial justice.

A limited number of copies of I’m Still Here are available through the Grace Bookstore. Contact Dabney Carden at dcarden@saygrace.net to reserve a copy (cost is $19, which included tax). This class will meet via Zoom, and we’ll send out the link to access sessions in next week’s GraceNotes and on our Facebook page. For more information, contact David Burman ( dburman@saygrace.net ) or April Berends ( aberends@saygrace.net ).

Forward Day by Day – August through October Issue

Just in case you missed it in the last issue of Grace Notes Weekly, the new issue of Forward Day by Day has arrived. If you require a hard copy, please feel free to drop by the church on Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. – we’ll have some copies at the ready so you need not enter the church to get one.

If you are uncomfortable coming into public, however – a completely rational pandemic position! – you can avail yourselves of electronic copies (see links below).

Food Pantry
Though the sultry July Wednesday began rather slowly, as the day (and the humidity!) progressed, it brought 14 visitors seeking food for a total of 49 family members/housemates (25 adults and 24 children). Volunteers Jim Harris, Nate Konsavage, Richard Hyatt and Caleb Sexton dexterously put together food bags and delivered them into the hands of those who needed them, making a fairly labor-intensive undertaking look like an oddly-themed ballet.

Food for 49 left a few thin places on the shelves, of course; to fill them, we need the following items:

* Saltine crackers
* canned chicken
* canned corn, peas, carrots
* packet of instant mashed potatoes
* pudding
* hearty soups
* apple sauce in large-but-not-ginormous jars -- 23 oz. or thereabouts, or in individual cups

Thanks to all the Grace parishioners and those in the Belvoir neighborhood who donate in wind and rain, heat and drought, tornado and pandemic, providing us the means to respond to those who need help. We are awed with your steadfast generosity!
Fishing Poles Needed
Latricia and Ron Blevins are ten o'clock members of our parish. Ron has cancer. When they first started coming, they were homeless but now are in an apartment. Their only form of recreation is fishing and someone stole their poles. If any one has fishing poles they are no longer using, please contact Vivian Dodds at  viviandodds@epbfi.com and she will pick them up and deliver them to the Blevins.

Thank you.
