Hello, library friends --
I had a great time visiting with people at the Town of Sherman's annual Native Plant Sale this weekend. What a fun event! I was there with seeds from the Mercer Seed Library, trying to get those seed packets into loving homes as our veggie garden season begins. At this point in the season we are out of a few things, but we still have lots of seeds left to plant including cucumbers, lettuce, herbs, beans, beets, and much more. Stop by and take what you can use this season - it's all free!
This newsletter is mostly a reminder of things I announced last time, since we have a few important events coming up that you don't want to miss. Watch for more announcements coming soon about summer events, including our summer reading programs, activities for kids, outdoor movie nights, and more.
The library is now on summer hours: 9-7 Monday through Thursday, 9-5 on Friday and 9-12 on Saturday. Stop in and pick up books, movies, puzzles, games and more for your beach/dock reading, evenings, and rainy days. Hope to see you soon at the library!

Virtual visit with author Patricia Skalka
Join us for a virtual author talk with Patricia Skalka on Tuesday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. Skalka is the author of the Dave Cubiak Door County Mysteries, including her latest title, Death Washes Ashore. She's also a delightful person to talk to on the phone, so I'm excited to be able to chat about her books with area readers. All are welcome to join us for the online discussion!

Helen Keller: A Life Almost Lost
Join us for a performance of “Helen Keller: A Life Almost Lost” by award-winning historical performer Jessica Michna. This inspirational program begins in Helen’s own voice, quoting excerpts from the 1925 “Knights of the Blind” speech, and tells the story of Helen Keller and her dedicated teacher, Anne Sullivan.
This free performance will be held on Sunday, June 13 at 1:00 p.m. outdoors on the library grounds. Please bring your own chair if possible. (Metal folding chairs will also be available.) In case of inclement weather, the event may be moved indoors to the Mercer Community Center.

Trex Plastic Recycling Challenge
Our participation in the Trex Community Challenge recycling program is going great so far! In fact, we're already halfway to our goal of collecting 500 lbs of recyclable plastic film by October. Collection bins are available at the library and at Snow's Family Market.
Please see our website for details on what we can recycle and follow the guidelines closely. Our volunteers have to sort everything to make sure that only accepted materials are in the bins, so make our job easier by following the guidelines. Thank you!

Library COVID policies
Following the latest recommendations from the CDC, the library requires that all visitors ages 5 and older wear masks inside the building if they are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Library visitors who are vaccinated may make their own decisions about wearing masks. We ask that you respect others and maintain social distancing when practical.
Curbside service is still available to anyone who requests it for any reason. Just call us at 715-476-2366 to let us know what you need, and we'll be happy to help.
