COVID-19 RESPONSE UPDATE
Greetings Thousand Oaks Business Community,

I would like to take the opportunity to mention the City's recently developed application and process for businesses interested in temporarily moving their operations outdoors to comply with state and county orders. Lastly, just a reminder the recently extended deadline to apply for the U.S. Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is set to expire on August 8th. Find more information here.

Note: The following new businesses have received final approvals from the City to open for business. However, due to the current COVID-19 health emergency, some may not yet be open to the public at this time.

Lamborghini Westlake Village is now open at 3610 Thousand Oaks Boulevard. See more.
TJ Maxx
TJ Maxx opened a new location at the Home Depot Center, located at 2725 Teller Road.
Note: As expected, the economic impacts of COVID-19, including lay-offs and furloughs, have had a significant impact on unemployment rates.
City of Thousand Oaks
According to the California Employment Development Department, the preliminary Thousand Oaks June 2020 unemployment
rate is 12.4% (down slightly from a revised 12.8% in May 2020). The City has a total of 63,300 in the labor force with 54,400 who are employed. 
Ventura County
The California Labor Market report shows Ventura County’s June 2020 unemployment rate at 12.6% (down from a revised 13.7% in May 2020). 

A total of 10,800 jobs were added in June 2020, however, a total of 900 jobs were lost; amounting to a 9,900 net gain in jobs. (Most of the jobs gained are the result of furloughed or laid off employees returning to work once businesses reopened.) Job gains consisted of: 6,100 in Leisure and Hospitality; 2,000 in Trade, Transportation and Utilities; 1,300 in Educational and Health services; 700 in Professional and Business Services; 500 in other services; 100 in Information; and 100 in Construction. Job losses consisted of: 800 in Government; and 100 in Financial Services.
Thousand Oaks Police Department Business Watch Program
The Thousand Oaks Police Department recently launched the "Business Watch Program" to provide crime prevention education and services to our local business community. Participating business will have access to the latest information on effective crime prevention techniques and other local resources.

General Plan Update
Progress continues on the 2045 General Plan update. The General Plan Advisory Committee met on July 23rd to discuss health, equity, and environmental justice as it relates to the General Plan.
