Mercer University needs help testing undergraduate students
for COVID-19 prior to their return to campus. Volunteers will make copies, direct the flow of students, and assist with labeling tubes.
Please report to the UC on the day of your assigned shift and ask for Kim Pitts. PPE is not necessary, but masks are required.

AAP National Conference Scholarship
|
|
The Council on Children with Disabilities (COCWD) is offering scholarships for pediatric trainees to attend the virtual American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference & Exhibition on October 2-5, 2020. Each recipient will be awarded a scholarship to support conference registration and will have access to all live and on-demand conference materials.
Each scholarship recipient will be required to:
- Attend virtual program, “Communication Adaptations for Children with Disabilities” on October 3, 3 – 5:15 pm CST
- Attend two additional live or on-demand virtual sessions sponsored by COCWD. A complete list will be available by September 2020
- Participate in a virtual mentorship session with a COCWD Executive Committee member
- Develop a short (300 words) description of your experience at the National Conference for inclusion in a weekly email update to all COCWD members
Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- Medical student, resident, fellowship trainee, or early career physician
- Member of the AAP COCWD
- Interest in caring for children with disabilities or medical complexities
- Available to attend the virtual AAP National Conference & Exhibition on October 2-5
Applications are due by
August 14, 2020
. Results will be announced by early September 2020. Underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.

Welcome Mira Sarsekeyeva, MD
|
|
Dr. Sarsekeyeva earned her MD Degree and numerous certificates of post–graduate training from the Department of Continuing Education at Harvard University Medical School, Imperial College School of Medicine approved by the Royal College of Physicians, London, UK, and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Tel-Aviv/ Beersheba, Israel. She has vast experiences in Medical Curriculum, leading various academic committees and working in interprofessional teams. She is experienced in developing and running the new modern active learning, vertically/horizontally integrated curriculum. She also has international experience delivering OSCE curriculum and teaching clinical skills.
Prior to coming to Mercer, Dr. Sarsekeyeva served as an Associate Professor of OB/GYN and Director of Clinical Skills at Roseman University College of Medicine; as Clinical Assistant Professor, Director of Foundations of Medicine Course, Director of Institutional Competency Assessment Program, Director of Endocrinology/Reproduction Course, and Director of Standardized Patient Program at Charles Schmidt College of Medicine in Florida Atlantic University and University of Miami Muller School of Medicine. She has publications in clinical medicine, health sciences, medical education, and contributed to the development of new Interprofessional educational model with Geriatric Mentor-Educator at Florida Atlantic University. Her research interests are in Medical Education, Clinical Interprofessional Education and Assessment of Competence.

Residency Explorer helps residency applicants research programs in their specialty of interest and compare themselves to previously matched applicants
. While Residency Explorer will not advise you where to apply or predict where you'll match, it can help you develop a list of programs for further investigation. Last year, 9 out of 10 applicants said after using Residency Explorer, they felt more confident about which programs to apply to and more informed about the programs of interest to them.

- Block 2 has been restructured from four modules to three based on feedback from end-of-module surveys, module debriefings, and town halls
- New protocols for anonymous online reporting have been implemented based on results of our Year 3 Survey

Each year the Association for the Advancement of Philosophy and Psychiatry offers the Karl Jaspers Award for the best paper on a topic in philosophy and psychiatry authored by a student or trainee.
The award carries a cash prize of $350 and recognition in AAPP publications.
The deadline for submission of entries is Friday, December 11, 2020.
