Making Designs Come to Life
Our Be The Light Campus Master Plan continues to thrive, with much of it being done in partnership with our amazing alumni. In the next several issues of the Alumni DeTales, we will highlight the alumni who have shared their time and talents with the Campus Master Plan's Strategic Leadership Committee and SFD's Advancement Team. First up are two dynamic designers: Dan Mayer and Emma Richards.
Daniel (Dan) Mayer
St. Francis DeSales, Class of 1998

Dan Mayer has been an instrumental part of the recent campus updates at St. Francis DeSales High School. Dan, a partner at Triad Architects, Ltd., led the redesign of the former convent into dynamic new spaces for students and faculty.

Dan also helped with the networking of other DeSales alumni who could make an impact on the updates at the school and we are blessed to have the support of so many Stallions!

As a volunteer instructor for the Architecture course at DeSales, Dan was able to show Mrs. Gattis’ classes an insider's perspective on the construction process during the renovation of the Student Service Center. To gain insight and appreciation of the service and commitment of the Sisters of St. Francis, Dan traveled to Stella Niagara in upstate New York and visited with the Provincial Minister, Sr. Edith Wyss. In sharing the plan for the convent update, Sr. Edith embraced the return of “Sacred Space” for our community.
Emma Richards
St. Francis DeSales, Class of 2017

It is not often that an Architecture student gets to watch her work come to life while still in school. Emma, a senior Architecture Major at Miami University, has been a returning intern with Triad Architects for several summer and winter breaks. The opportunity has allowed her to see the project from concept to completion, all before graduation!

We have been so grateful for the renderings and updates she has provided, giving us a true understanding of the architectural vision of the project.

Recent Alums Head Out on Cross Country Bike Trip

When COVID-19 impacted their college plans, Chloe Myers (class of 2020) and Paula Clark (class of 2019) decided to seek out another form of education. This summer and fall, these best friends and former Stallions are trading in books - for bikes.

After training all spring, ending with the Ohio to Erie Trail (Cincinnati to Cleveland), the girls drove out west. Chloe and Paula just left the Pacific coast at Astoria, Oregon and started a cross country bike ride that will end in Yorktown, Virginia in mid-October. They will be meeting people, seeing the country, and searching for the best ice cream stand in America! Follow them on their journey on Instagram @ChloeAndPaulaGoPlaces.
In Memoriam     Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.
