Thoughts from the Director
Dear Families,

Mission Commander Chelsea and EP3-20 have said goodbye as they go on a special mission to spread more love across the galaxies, I've invited a new person to come to our aid. Please meet Conductor CW from the S.T.E.A.M. engine train, Agape', on our Way to Love station for our summer VBS. 

Please read below for a special update about VBS this summer!

My heart, love, and prayers go out to all of you! Please know I am here whenever you need me. The church is using Zoom for Adult Forum (Sundays 9:30-10:30am) and Coffee Hour (Sundays 11:00am-12:00pm) and anyone is welcome to join. The E-tower has the meeting link, id and password.

I would love to see the kids make their crafts and play the game. When you are done please tag St. James on Facebook with videos or pictures. If you don't have Facebook, or not sure how to, send it to me and I will post it.

My heart is heavy with the tragic events that continue to affect our brothers and sisters of color. Here is a website of anti-racism resources that is helpful on how to educate and talk with your child. (Disclaimer: I have not clicked on all the links so please decide what is appropriate for your child).

Our VBS verse seems so appropriate at this time, "I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." - Ephesians 3:17-19  May we pass this love on to all those hurting and may we be a beacon of light.

News and Notes

Conductor CW from the S.T.E.A.M. Engine, Agape', is here to conduct our lesson for Sunday School and to give a preview to VBS. The kids will need legos or building blocks. Other activities are listed below that will enhance the lesson they will learn.
Sunday School Activities
Here are a few activities for today's lesson

  Blueprint for Solomon's Temple (explanation is in the video, you don't have to spray paint them gold). They will need Lego's, Building blocks, Play-doh, or anything they can create with. 

Another activity for Solomon's Temple (this is more labor intensive)

Building God's House (explanation is in the video), we will discuss how would we build a house for God and us!


 
VBS will not be in-person but virtual. 

We are joining with the other Children Ministry leaders across the Diocese of Kansas for a specific VBS designed around the Way of Love. The kids will grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus, with each other, with their neighbors and with our community. Kids will have activities that include science, art, movement, mindfulness, bible stories, and group activities. At the end of the week we will meet via Zoom to connect, play games, and show-off our finished activities. At the beginning of VBS kids will get a packet of material that they will use throughout VBS.

Details: July 12-August 9. Free! Kids ages 3 - incoming 6th grade.

If you are interested in being part of this ministry please email Chelsea. We are currently need of a coordinator willing to gather parents interested. For the time being there will be space marked off in the lounge for parents interested in meeting each other. Parents can also take quiet time in the Sanctuary or join in Adult Forum in the Guild Hall.
