Dear Marquette Families,
As we wrap up our school year, I want to thank you for your support of your scholars and Marquette Elementary this year. It has been a tough and challenging year full of adjustments and unknowns. The staff and I appreciate your partnership and understanding throughout this school year.
I am grateful we were able to welcome many of our scholars back for in person instruction. I appreciate the persistence of families for our students that remained virtual making sure your child continued to attend lessons, complete school work, and stay a part of their classroom community. It was a positive way to finish the school year.
Your scholars have done an amazing job this year. When I go into our classrooms both our virtual and in person scholars continue to learn, stay engaged, and enjoy social interactions with their classmates. They have done a fantastic job of adjusting to new routines and ways of learning. We are proud of them.
I’m also proud of our Marquette staff. This has been a challenging year for them also. They worked hard, made adjustments, and continued to put their scholars first. They collaborated and problem solved with each new situation and challenge. They were true professionals.
I hope all of our Marquette community is able to enjoy this summer. It should be one full of fun, connections, good health, and self care. I wish our 5th grade families and other families leaving Marquette all the best next year. You will be missed. I look forward to seeing our returning families in the fall.
Best,
Mrs. Parks
Principal, Marquette Elementary School

Online enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year for all grades, begins on August 3, 2021
You must complete the online enrollment for each child every year.
Please put this date on your summer calendar. The enrollment date for elementary schools is Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Enrollment for the elementary schools can now be done fully online so you don't need to physically come into school but we still urge you to have the online enrollment process finished by the August 17th date. The online enrollment can be started any time after August 3rd. Completing the enrollment by August 17th, helps us know you are planning on returning to Marquette and is essential when we are scheduling students in classrooms.
If you have questions when completing the online enrollment, someone will be in the office at Marquette during the following times to answer your questions. August 17th from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM for new students to MMSD and from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM for MMSD returning students. This is a designated time for schools to be open late to help with enrollment. Zoom meetings for new families and support via phone is being offered at schools during this time.

Returning Library Materials
Due to the pandemic, many were unable to return library books they had at their homes or elsewhere. Now that our school is open, I'm asking if you could take a look around your home, to see if you have any Marquette Elementary School Library books to return.
For students who are in-person, you can check with your teacher about where to put them and I'll make sure to collect them. If you are a virtual student, you can email me to set up a pickup time or you can return it to the office during school hours.
There will not be any fines or fees for books you cannot find from March 1, 2020 until now. I just ask that you take a look around and return anything you can find.
Chromebook & Summer Tech Support Info
Chromebooks
Fourth grade Chromebooks will be collected at school this spring and those students will receive new Chromebooks when they return to school in September. The exception is 4th grade summer school students. They will keep their Chromebooks to use during summer school.
All third and fifth grade students will keep their Chromebooks and chargers through the summer and bring them back in the fall, with the exception of students who are not returning to MMSD in the fall. If you are not planning to return to MMSD next school year, please let your child’s teacher and the Marquette office know as soon as possible.
Tech Support
For those keeping their Chromebooks through the summer, you will have some options for tech support if needed. If you need chromebook help and are attending summer school please visit the district website page for tech support, select your summer school site and send the summer school LMTS and email describing the issue you are having.
If you need chromebook help and are not attending summer school, please call the family helpline (608-204-5678). Leave a detailed message and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
There will not be summer tech support during the following time periods: June 14-18, and August 1 - 26, 2021. Ms. Heindel will be checking email regularly beginning August 26, 2021 and can provide support at that point.
Summer Reading Suggestions
|
|
"The simplest way to make sure that we raise literate children is to teach them to read, and to show them that reading is a pleasurable activity. And that means, at its simplest, finding books that they enjoy, giving them access to those books, and letting them read them."

If you're interested in volunteering, we'd love to have you join the PTG board, help us run/organize any of the events we hold throughout the year or support us through donations. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you are enjoying the last weeks of this school year.
