WOLFHOUND WEDNESDAY
September 22, 2021
We're a third-time Blue Ribbon School!!!
The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

What a great day we had yesterday celebrating our third Blue Ribbon Award in 15 years! This award not only affirms the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff and students, but it also recognizes the dedication of our parents. It is the strong partnership and passion for Catholic education exhibited by our families that helps make our school a school of excellence. As parents, you are not only seeking Catholic education for your children, but you are seeking quality, well-rounded education. Your continued support of your children and teachers, high expectations, and the importance you have put on the integrated faith and educational experience make our school a place of faith and excellence. I am proud to be a part of this amazing school and I know all of our teachers, staff and families are too!

Last week the Governor and all of the Children’s Hospitals in the state of Ohio asked schools to do their part in keeping children safe as the COVID numbers rise in the youth population. I am proud to say that our students are following the protocols at school with masking, distancing, washing/sanitizing hands. Our student cases of COVID seem to be most often socially based. For example, being a close contact at birthday parties, athletic events, and extended family gatherings. Please keep safety protocols including distancing and masking in mind at social events and gatherings. For your consideration, please find an open letter to all Ohioans from the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association and an infographic displaying information about the current spike of COVID-19 cases among Ohio’s kids. Thank you for your commitment to working together as a school community to protect our children and staff.

When taking at-home COVID tests, please remember the photo sent to Mrs. Mensching must include the name of the test-taker and the date to be valid.

Blessings,
Kathy O’Reilly

P.S. The Blue Ribbon celebration will continue on Friday with a blue dress-down day! Students learned of this news on the announcement this morning.

If you do not wish to order online, please contact the school office for an envelope.

School Picture Day Clothing Tips
We want your child to look their best on school picture day so here are a few helpful tips to keep in mind.
  • Avoid “new” hairstyles for picture day. Pony tails, while practical for school days are not the best in school pictures because the pony tail is usually hidden. Headbands can also become a distraction - so please choose wisely.
  • Please make sure your school uniform is neatly pressed. Boys and girls collars should be pressed down and the tops of girls' uniforms should be pressed, especially around the patch. If your child wears a school sweater, vest or fleece pullover and you want them to wear it in the picture - PLEASE make sure they are aware of that.
School Safety Drills
Each year we do several school safety drills in addition to our regular evacuation (fire) drills. Yesterday we accomplished a combination evacuation and school safety drill. Evacuation and tornado drills are held regularly. School safety drills dates are registered with the Dublin City Police Chief and will be held on the following dates this year: Jan. 13, 2022 and March 3, 2022. A reminder will be in the Wolfhound Wednesday prior to the two school safety drills. Just a reminder that if we would have to evacuate completely off site, Karrer Middle School is our off campus relocation site.
Sign Up to Be a Recess Volunteer
Volunteering at recess is a great way to become involved at St. Brigid! Volunteers are needed to assist teachers and to manage playground equipment. Volunteers should sign in the main office, obtain a volunteer badge then report to the playground. Please follow all school COVID-19 protocols. In the event of inclement weather, recess will be indoors with their teachers and volunteers will not be needed.

All volunteers must be PCG (Protecting God’s Children) compliant and have completed the St. Brigid volunteer application. In the event you can not fulfill your shift, please contact Jennifer Glatz at [email protected]
Prayer Warrior Sign Up
The St. Brigid School Advisory Committee is asking for your prayers for the students, staff and administrators at St. Brigid of Kildare School and Parish. Please select a day to devote to praying for their health and well-being during these times of uncertainty. May God continue to bless your family and we ask that you all join in embracing our school motto for this year "Pencils in the Hand of God".

Family First Service Opportunity
New service opportunity for the family!

We would love you and your family to join us in providing comfort (in the form of snacks) to families staying at the Ronald McDonald house. You can find detailed information here from the Ronald McDonald house website on how to safely assemble the bags. The snack pack program allows volunteers to prepare bags in their own setting while providing snacks for families caring for sick children

This is a great activity for the family and while you assemble discuss how acts of service and being Catholic go hand-in-hand! From the Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12), to the Works of Mercy, to the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) we know Jesus urges us to provide service to others.

Once bags are assembled please drop them in the bin in the collection closet in Hendricks hall October 2nd - October 10th. We will also be collecting assembled bags at the Parish picnic, on October 10th! Any questions contact [email protected] or [email protected]
