Gold Rush Elementary
2020-2021 School Year
FIRST FULL WEEK IN THE HYBRID MODEL
It was great to have all of our students back on either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday! The week confirmed how fortunate we are to have our students back in-person. Students spent the week getting to know their new classmates and reviewing routines and procedures. I am amazed at how quickly students settled in. In many ways this week felt like a traditional beginning. Students were forming new friendships, finding books that were “just right” for them and meeting individually with their teacher to set goals for the coming year.

Unlike previous years, students reviewed how to access learning in google classroom using their own device. Implementing Google Meets and google classroom is new to many students and teachers and we appreciate your patience as we continue to learn how to best use these tools, especially on Fridays.

As you are aware, students will take either their ipad or chrome book to and from school each day. Please see our device contract. We also discussed what it looks like to Go for the G.O.L.D. in person and online. We know that it is essential to Give Respect, Own your actions, Listen and learn and Do your best, when learning in both settings. Please see our school expectations below for working remotely below.
ACCESSING GOOGLE CLASSROOM & LIVE MEETING LINKS
Students in grades K-5 are accessing their asynchronous work through google classroom and joining live small group sessions on Friday using Google Meets. Thank you again for your patience as we implement these tools for the first time this year. Please see a collection of parent resources below that will help you access your child’s materials and meetings. Reach out to your child’s teacher if you are having any difficulties.

Students are also using their Clever badge to log into different online resources. If the Clever app or link isn't working or if you are having trouble, you can try the Clever Link on the GRE website itself. It is listed under student resources. If your child has their badge you can scan it. This link will also work if your child signs in with his/her email. Please see your child's email login in and password listed on his/her device envelope.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT - HYBRID ONLY
SEPTEMBER 2 @ 4:30-5:00 PM & 5:10-5:40 PM

Teachers are looking forward to sharing more about their classrooms with parents during Back to School Night on September 2nd. Teachers' virtual presentations will explain classroom practices and procedures and grade level curricula and expectations. Please see teachers' communication for a link to the meeting. You are welcome to join the session that works best for you.  You will also receive a school wide presentation geared towards parenting during the pandemic.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR ELEARNERS
We enjoyed the opportunity to connect with our students who are engaging in eLearning last Friday. It was wonderful to see their faces and kick off their school year together! While we are always here to support students and their families, eLearners have a District principal who is responsible for scheduling, services and the curriculum. Please see your contact information below.

Arrival Procedures:
Gold Rush has had tremendous success with our rolling start! If you are returning to Gold Rush, you are aware that all students enter the building between 8:20-8:30 AM and head directly to their classroom. This year grade levels will be assigned additional entrances that will be staffed at all times by GRE staff.   The map above shows where students will enter the building. As soon as the bell rings at 8:20 AM all students are able to walk directly through their assigned door and head directly to their classroom. They do not need to line up behind their teacher or grade level cone after 8:20 AM.
