Early t his morning the staff of the Krouzian Zekarian Vasbouragan (KZV) Armenian School on Brotherhood Way in San Francisco arrived to discover that during the previous night the school had been defaced with offensive messages intended to incite ethnic violence and intimidate and terrorize the Armenian-American community of the Bay Area. These messages included pointed threats and graphic vulgarities.

The  KZV School is a Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredited academic institution operating under the auspices of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church of San Francisco and is part of the family of parochial schools governed by the Board of Regents of the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Church. Established in 1985, it is the only Armenian day school serving the Bay Area.

The greater Armenian-American community of the Bay Area has been profoundly impacted by this violation of a sacred space, where parents send their children to learn and grow closer to their ancient cultural and Christian heritage. KZV School has been a source of pride for the Armenian community and a beacon of responsible community engagement and the most venerable ideals of the Armenian-American identity. It has been widely commended by leaders at every level of government for the quality of its education and the positive role it plays in San Francisco.

In the face of this bold aggression, the San Francisco Interfaith Council stands united with the KZV School and Armenian Community of San Francisco and the Greater Bay Area in denouncing these  destructive, bigoted and politically motivated acts of violence
