Visit Ithaca Needs Your Support
Through the impact of tourism, Visit Ithaca strengthens our community’s economy & vitality, providing benefit to all the people of Tompkins County.
It is important to share with our partners and community that the CVB has experienced a nearly 50% reduction in total funding from all sources in 2020, and expects similar impacts in 2021. Yet our team has continued to work hard to support our tourism partners and to attract and serve visitors to our community, which has a direct impact on small businesses and residents in our region.
We really need your help. Whatever you might contribute, whether it is $25 or $2500, the CVB and Tompkins Chamber will promise to leverage your donation to benefit our entire community's economy, keeping important programming and promotional efforts going, and helping our partners navigate these uncertain waters. We know you value the connections we build, and we appreciate your consideration of a year end gift at this very challenging time.

Child Development Council has Funds to Help Essential Workers with Child Care Expenses
The Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (the “CARES Act”) has provided New York with $20 million in child care scholarships for children of essential workers. This newest round of scholarships will run through December 31, 2020 or until funds are depleted.
New York State’s continued funding will ensure that the workforce that is needed to protect and care for the public during this ongoing pandemic have the child care they need. This scholarship will be administered through Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies. CCR&Rs are the child care experts and the conduit to accessing child care in New York State. The Child Development Council is the CCR&R for Cortland and Tompkins Counties.

Local, Regional, and New York State Updates
- Businesses that are licensed for on-premises service of alcohol must suspend dining service AND consumption of food and all beverages (inside and outside) at 10:00 p.m. Such businesses may continue delivery and to-go service of food and non-alcoholic beverages only.
- For hotels, this means you can still do room service after 10 p.m. but alcohol is not included. NYSH&TA did receive confirmation that this means at 10 p.m. the restaurant must be closed with no one left inside. You can’t seat and serve someone at 9:55 p.m. and have them stay until finished.
- If you have a liquor license, this new ruling also means banquets must end by 10 p.m.
- The re-opening time is the existing time as permitted by the County.
- All restaurants (including those without an SLA license to sell alcohol) must cease in-person dining from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. but may continue take-out and delivery service.
- All gyms and fitness centers must close between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
-
The Executive Order indicates there may be additional guidance from SLA. If/when that posts, NYSH&TA will share that information with its members.
Indoor and outdoor gatherings statewide at private residences will be limited to no more than 10 people beginning Friday, November 13, at 10 p.m. Existing non-essential gathering limits are in effect otherwise.
