Hello GRES Families!

I cannot believe there are less than two weeks of school left...where did the year go?!?! We've received a few calls, so I wanted to share with everyone that students will be keeping their Chromebooks for the summer. This will allow all students to continue to have digital access to DreamBox and RazKids. Lexia will also be available for those students that have been issued and created an account.

Please, please, please seriously consider signing up for any one of the wonderful summer opportunities offered this summer. Invites were sent and we've been contacting families of students whose teachers have recommended them for Summer Experience, ESY, Junior Fox Camp, or Math Boot Camp. We are closing out the most unusual and quite possibly the most trying school year (the last 14 months really) our students (and families) have ever experienced. We want to provide as much support and help as we possibly can in an effort to reduce the lasting effects caused by the pandemic. The sooner we work to close the gap, the more prepared our students will be to successful moving forward! Please call the office if you have any questions about any of the summer opportunities. 630-553-5513

If you haven't yet, check out the link below to submit a staff shout out for any of the wonderful GRES team members. We'd love for our last newsletter to be full of Staff Shout Outs!

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to continually enhance the services we provide to our families.

Sincerely,
Michele Breyne
GRES Principal

YEF Golf Outing

The Yorkville Educational Foundation (YEF) has partnered with Yorkville's Parks and Recreation Department for the FORE! Golf Outing--a day filled with golf, networking, prizes, and fun--on Thursday, June 10 at the beautiful Blackberry Oaks Golf Course. More than 100 golfers are expected to attend including city, county, and Yorkville school district officials. With the support of local businesses, YEF raised $10,000 at the previous golf outing, which helped launch two student-run businesses that taught life and business skills to students of differing abilities. This year, the focus is on making an even bigger impact for Yorkville CUSD 115 schools. For information on registration, sponsorship, silent auction donations, or volunteering, visit the YEF website at: https://yef115.org/fore.

Staff Shout Out
My son can be a hard kid to figure out and get through to, and Miss Bleidorn figured him out instantly. She immediately knew how to make accommodations for him and he regularly tells me that this is his most favorite class ever. He is ending his school year feeling successful and smarter and it is entirely because she has made a difference for him.

“Mrs. Sutton is an ANGEL on this Earth and I’m not exaggerating!!! She just “gets” my son in a way that no one else ever has. She has done so much for him, including setting him up on Learning Ally, which means he has been able to access books he never would have been able to read independently. I am SO GRATEFUL for her. He is ending his school year feeling successful and smarter and it is entirely because of her and his homeroom teacher.”

My daughter has loved being in Miss Schilling’s class. She comes home with a smile on her face every day and is always so excited to tell us everything they are learning about. We have never seen her this excited about learning before!

Finally, Mrs. Walton has been a miracle worker down in kindergarten! My youngest is reading, writing, adding, and subtracting! It has been amazing to see how much he has learned this year. She has made his first school experience such a loving and positive one.

Our 6th grade, all day in-person, team consists of Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Dabros, and Mrs. Peffley: “I just wanted to send a quick shout out to the 6th grade team.  They are all rock stars.  I love the weekly updates we get with what is going on for the week.  Mrs. Johnson (homeroom teacher) is amazing and has called me or emailed me when issues/concerns have come up.”

“Just want to give a HUGE thank you to Mr. Johnson.  He has created a truly wonderful e-learning environment for his students and families.  This entire school year, he has provided his students with engaging, fun and challenging activities.  Additionally, he is always looking for ways to improve the e-learning experience.  He is concerned with academic excellence but also good old fashion fun.  Mr. Johnson has been a blessing to our daughter and family.”

“Ms. Hanna has been phenomenal. She provided Zoom sessions and was included with the whole class while she was out.”
SEAKers

Grande Reserve has joined the SEAKers in completing weekly kindness challenges! SEAKers, which stands for Students Engaging in Acts of Kindness, was created by Mandy Kelly, a 6th grade teacher in California. The goal of the SEAKers is to “make the world a better place through small acts of kindness”. Each week students will be challenged with small acts such as holding the door open, doing an extra chore at home, or giving someone a genuine compliment. Each week we will shoutout the class with the most SEAKers!

Families are welcome to join in at home too! Check out the SEAKers website and facebook page below!
Please send us any photos of your child(ren) doing Acts of Kindness; we'd love to feature them! :)

This week's SEAKer's winners are:
