A message from our Missions Pastor

Hello Legacy Family,

“Happy New Year” to all of you! I know 2020 was a tough year due to the pandemic, but I want to say it was not for Legacy Missions! Even though we couldn’t go overseas or participate in outreaches here in the community, our partners and certain ministries still felt the love of Christ through our church. When we heard this past year of churches in Uganda that couldn’t meet because they didn’t have thermometers we gave, when we heard that children in an orphanage didn’t have bedding we gave, when we heard a church plant in Mexico in an unreached area was struggling with support we gave, and when we heard that any of our partners locally or foreign needed support we gave! Even though we couldn't do it physically, we did pretty big things with our prayers and our financial support. I want to say thank you Legacy Family for being great givers to our General Fund which helps missions accomplish so much here in our community and around the world.

Now what does 2021 have in store for us? Well unfortunately at the start of the year much of the same, but we are getting ready for a post covid season due to the vaccines. I cannot pinpoint a time as of when we will fully be able to engage the world with our physical hands and presence, but I have confidence in Him to know the time is coming.

To start this year, we are focusing on our prayer initiatives, continuing to pray for our original four countries one more month and the updated prayer needs of our partners. For us to expand our external posture we must expand our prayer posture so our hearts are in tune with what the Lord would have us do. Please partner with us in prayer for these countries and partners.

I am excited to announce people have signed up for the Missions Action Team, which will help the Legacy Missions execute the agenda the Lord has for us. I believe this team will help in executing outreaches, community projects, fundraisers, and a new program called Legacy Community Cares. Please pray for us as we tackle how to accomplish certain tasks as we move post covid.

I have spoken to a lot of people over the past four months and I have been asked on countless occasions can we do something on race. I would like to announce we will be engaging race, racism, prejudice, etc. in an onsite conference led by our pastoral team called “Culture Wise.” This will be an opportunity to take a deeper look at what is going on in our culture when it comes to race, and how we as believers are supposed to respond to it within this culture. So stay tuned!!

I am truly excited about Legacy Missions here in 2021!!

Blessings,
Patrick Iga

Prayer Initiatives
As we kick off 2021, we want to start the new year focused on our Prayer Initiatives. This is where we will share information on specific countries, happenings, and prayer requests, along with quarterly updates of the top three prayer requests from all our partners. The Learn More box under each country will open up that country's PDF file, providing the specific prayer card for each.

We encourage you to read about each country and refer back to their prayer requests weekly, praying over a different country each week.

Again, for us to expand our external posture we must expand our prayer posture so our hearts are in tune with what the Lord would have us do. Please partner with us in prayer for these countries and partners.
Impact Opportunity
In-person serving is minimal at this time. However, there are a few opportunities. Real Options needs patient advocates; next training is January 25th. The Plano West Rotary Calendar has several opportunities to serve, such as Barron Neighborhood Food Pantry Drive Through, Cards for Nursing Homes, and Help Deliver Meals to the Douglas Community.
Check out our partners' current needs from our Impact Opportunities webpage.
Missions Action Team
It is not too late to join the team. Our first meeting will be on January 28th, on Zoom. The current plan will be monthly meetings. If you are interested in joining our team, email [email protected]
Celebrate the Wins

Thanks to your faithful giving, in addition to our monthly giving to our mission partners, we celebrate:
  • Heart4Mexico - $4,000 to struggling church plant
  • Marissa's House Projects' Sponsor a-Bed Campaign - exceeded the $8,000 goal, giving them the ability to provide bedding to all 94 children in Uganda homes and address other urgent needs as well
  • Paramount Church - additional $500 as an extra 2020 blessing

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Delivery
The shoeboxes were shipped and delivered to children around the world with the Gospel included. If you chose the "Follow Your Box" option, do not forget to use the lookup tool to see where your shoeboxes landed.

Progress Update from India
We have supported Local Church Catalyst (LCC) in India with mission trips and ongoing financial support. Recently the Kodair Church celebrated a grand opening of the new water plant installed by the local church, sponsored by LCC and Legacy Church.
From our last India mission trip, the team built a place for Pastor Prakash and the Cheedhed Church to gather in worship. Here is a short video as the church celebrates Christmas together in the new space.
Progress Update From The Seed Company
For several months, distribution efforts were severely impeded by the pandemic. However, in August, the distribution team was able to once again visit churches, for security and safety reasons, in undisclosed locations. In one area, a department head in the regional government was thrilled with the Sunday School materials they received. Elsewhere, children were so happy with the materials and were able to quickly memorize and retell the stories learned! The distribution team received a second Sunday School curriculum and is praying for God's blessing to lead them to the people in need.

Thank you from Pastor Moses and Uganda Churches
We would like to end this month's "Celebrate the Wins" with a thank you from Pastor Moses in Uganda for the thermometers we provided that enabled many churches to open. The sweet thank you follows their greeting, so watch it to the end!
Culture Wise Conference
Pastor Patrick and Pastor Kevin will be leading us in a church conference called Culture Wise. Topics include but are not limited to: race, racism, prejudice, and how we as believers are supposed to respond to it within this culture.

Stay tuned!!
