NEW 2021 DATES for Session #4A/B: October 30 & November 13
TOPIC: Hysteria/Conversion Disorder and the Disquiet Mind
We have spoken about Anxiety and Related Disorders at length previously, but want to tackle a growing issue of the disquiet mind, the utter overwhelm, and broad reaching fallout from the stress response that has become ubiquitous in our times. We’ll use case reports to delve into the overall topic of what was formerly really poorly described and ascribed as hysteria, which some now diagnose as conversion disorder, by discussing common presentations and diving into remedies/materia medica and the repertory. It is 2021, and see this as a timely and important topic.
Separately, or relatedly, we will begin our session with one very specific difficult issue: The uniquely odd situation of those nearing death exemplified by the COVID-19 emergency crisis. We’ll explore what you are likely to see and how to understand and deal with this situation. There is a relationship between these two topics, which we will further explore in class in the way some patients sometimes change symptoms as they near death. More on this as we start the class.
