JHC Completes First Phase of
Tennis House Restoration!
The Jay Estate has completed the first phase of a major restoration project to stabilize its 1917 Palmer Indoor Tennis House. The work, which included structural repairs to shore up the building’s trusses and sills, was funded in part by the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Assistance Grant Program from the National Parks Service and administered through the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. The goal is to create a playable clay court in a magnificent historic setting to serve the community.

PLEIN-AIR PAINTING IN THE MEADOW!
Sunday, September 27
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The tradition of plein-air painting at the Jay Estate goes back centuries and one of the most famous artists to capture the oak trees and stone walls of our landscape was a member of the Art Colony at Old Lyme. (Can you guess who it was?)

Come try your hand at capturing the beauty of our autumn meadow as the native grasses begin changing color. We'll provide the easels and the view -- come any time between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

How do we make historic preservation matter to every American? Click on the photo to see a video clip from our recent conversation between Brent Leggs and Jorge Otero-Pailos. Thank you to our summer volunteer Ben Fishbein for his media assistance!
