Working on a proposal? Here are tips for success!
Here are our top five tips for crafting a session proposal that’s sure to shine:

  • Presenter diversity matters. Our committee will prioritize sessions that have given careful thought to the presenter lineup, bringing diverse perspectives to the conversation and reflecting the diversity of our network (museum types and sizes, geography, career stages, race and ethnicity, etc.).

  • Don't stress about the "Title." Sometimes it's best to start with something simple. We'll give you a little time to refine it later and our committee might even have suggestions.

  • Be clear and concise. What will your session cover? Be sure to stay focused on your topic and how you plan to present it. Develop several key points about your proposed session and line them out in a logical sequence.

  • Offer practical solutions. The best sessions are those that offer practical, scalable solutions and strategies. Practical doesn’t always mean safe or easy, so feel free to challenge your attendees and encourage conversation or debate.

  • Provide tools and tips. Consider providing tools, templates, and resources for attendees to take back with them. Let us know in your proposal what these might look like – pdfs, worksheets, lists of resources.
