Dear Friends,
Thank you to everyone who joined me on Monday evening for the second in my Thought Series virtual forum on the topic of Affordable Housing. The 90-minute discussion covered the County Council's work to implement the Housing Opportunities for All report including providing affordable housing for seniors as well as efforts to address housing needs along the Purple Line. Details on the County Council's effort to protect renters from eviction were also discussed. I'm especially grateful for the insightful questions from attendees.
Our panelists were David Bowers, Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Market Leader, Enterprise Community Partners; Maryann Dillon, Executive Director, Housing Initiative Partnership; George Leventhal, Director of Community Health for Kaiser Permanente; and Sheila Somashekhar, Director of the Purple Line Corridor Coalition. They brought their individual expertise to the panel as we discussed County efforts to address affordable housing before and during the pandemic, the need, and what's happening now.
