Medal win for librarian's debut novel
UWindsor librarian and writer Heidi Jacobs has been announced as the winner of the 2020 Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal. Her debut novel,  Molly of the Mall: Literary Lass and Purveyor of Fine Footwear , was one of 84 submissions considered for the $15,000 annual award that celebrates Canadian authors in memory of Stephen Leacock and is presented to the best book of humour each year. Short film showcase features works by UWindsor students and alumni
UWindsor students and alumni are among the young filmmakers whose works are featured in a showcase streaming online through June 12.
The  Windsor Youth Short Film Showcase  is a compilation of 13 movies under 15 minutes long by artists ranging in age from 12 to 24. Click here to see the full list.
Esports to engage high school students online during pandemic
Lancer Gaming will host a Rocket League tournament geared towards high school students on June 13. The event builds on the success of its April 4 #StayHomePlayGames tournament which brought together over 150 students from across Canada and the United States as social distancing was enforced. Lancer sports suspended through 2020
Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced the cancellation of all sanctioned sport programming up to December 31 . The decision to cancel varsity sport competition this fall was difficult but necessary, says UWindsor athletics director Mike Havey. The league determined after discussion with public health authorities that a safe return to play was not possible for the fall semester.
